  1. When Darvish and Tanaka are on, they are unhittable. He doesn't have to be the staff ace to be successful.
  2. I'll believe it when it becomes OFFICIAL! Barring injuries, the Angels are going to regret not signing him!
  3. They're all amazing and compare them to what were use too and they look like MVP's. Gordon is the best overall hitter and is left handed. He also is 32 and now has too much health concern over a 162 game schedule for me. As for the pick, no one want's to lose it. You don't let the pick stop you on acquiring a player like Upton, you do that for players like Desmond and Murphy.
  4. In terms of Outfielders.....its such a hard choice! Personally Gordon is a bad idea. We don't NEED the left handed bat that bad, we have those late in games coming off the bench. Cespedes is another huge question mark that wont be worth taking the risk IMO. What we really NEED is anyone who can competently play LF and just stay on the field, what we want is someone we can for sure pencil in and finally not worry about the outfield for once. Too me that player is Upton. The problem is, he like so many others want to get paid for the potential and we dont do that anymore (barring rare cases, i.e Trout). He's gonna realistically get 6-8yrs at 18-22MM. The other two are hard cases because of a multitude of factors, like no draft pick comp or health for instance. If Justin doesn't want too win here then so be it, our next target could be some sort of sign and trade for Dexter or just wait and further explore the trade market.
  5. I would make all three of those moves. Their not the best but I'd make them if necessary. I'd even do that package for Corey Dickerson. Throw us some Mulla and Holt and I'd do that as well and Gerrado is better than any LF we currently have. I think were going over the Luxury tax. This is the new format for MLB off-seasons. No one is in a rush anymore to spend on question marks, so teams are checking more boxes than ever. We just need to remember that pretty much all of the FA Targets we could use are still on the market, so don't be surprised if there's a ton of off-season too go in terms of both signings and trades. Certain markets have to develop first is all and then a flurry of moves will be made throughout the league.
  6. I think were gonna spend more than many on here think. Arte has a mild case of Billionaire's buyers remorse. I've always gotten the impression that Arte wants too win and money is only money. The money isn't the issue here though but rather the fact that he got burned and then was made out too look like a fool afterwards. He's a business man, he understands that some deals work and others don't but not when you go out on a limb in the first place and get thrown under the bus still. He tried to add a personal touch and now its back too strictly business. The Angels FA vetting process has drastically been bulked up and it looks like so has the rest of the leagues. Players aren't going to be handed out outrageous contract anymore. Nobody like's the idea that were paying more and more every year for less production.
  7. I just erased everything I wrote on Maeda for 2 hours so now you'll all get the super abbreviated version before I snap. What Guy is he supposed too be exactly? . If he isn't a bona fide ace, then screw it? The Angels need right handed pitching with upside. He throws a ton of strikes and has fluent mechanics. He has a good pitchers frame but leaves some to be desired in weight. He comfortably sits at 91-93 and can reach 94-95. I'd expect him to get 4-6yr at 8-14MM AAV. Signing him frees up space to trade additional SP for other positions of need.
  8. Let's hope that the Dodgers use some of their EXCESS players too acquire a right handed starter now and eventually thin out the Maeda sweepstakes!
  9. I'm happy with the reconstruction of the team and the over all outcome of the offseason thus far. I've noticed many of you are sitting on the edge of your seats, thinking were in dire straits but virtually none/any of our targets are off the board. The team today is better than last years squad. The winter meetings is basically just a giant Christmas party for the league and a way to celebrate your organization as a whole(ish). Not everything has too be done within that week and we've got a long way to go before spring training. Don't be surprised if the teams immediate direction is something similar too.... 1. Leftfielder 2. Power lefty pen arm 3. Sign SP 4. Trade SP depth 5. Lefty 2b/DH
  10. The Entertainment industry is a monopoly. They can set whatever prices they like because we continue to gobble it up. The money "entertainers" make is wrong period. We value the wrong skill sets.
  11. All i'm saying is that they make way too much money and just because their employers can afford it, does't make it right. Then you get teams like Boston who can just spend whatever they want and it forces teams like Toronto too overspend on Happ.
  12. No the market is set by the employers. Their the ones meeting the agents demands and writing the checks.
  13. thats wrong and they make sports look bad by doing that s**t. I read that David would take less money to be more comfortable somewhere, Imagine what it would have taken to get him to pitch in "Seattle"? I'm just going to make sure a baseball doesn't ever leave my kids hands.
  14. Their playing a game, no matter what sport it is. They don't deserve the money they get paid and huge portions of the money owners make, should be used to grow baseball globally as their business. Maybe he doesn't want too go past 2020 with the contracts because he's going too sell the team around that time? The trade market will open up to a lot of teams now and all of our trade able pitching just doubled maybe even tripled in value. The question is how does it effect the contracts of Gordon and Heyward though?
  15. The team should take a look at Maeda, Hwang for 3b, Gordon for LF and trade some pitching depth for 8th or 9th inning relief help.
  16. I just can't believe were in an age where we can give 30+MM a year too athletes. Plus, we do it in such a prosperous time for all of us here in the United States and the world as a whole.
  17. It's just, Is that kind of money good for baseball and sports in general? like J.A. Happ for example? The trade market is going to explode now though, so that helps us immensely!
  18. I don't even know what too say. I've erased it like 10 times already
  19. I think physically, Wilson will be ready too go for opening day but he also probably won't get a QO even with a good/full season. I'm sure C.J. will want another contract though and still has something to prove. It's worth a look at least because we would be trading for another teams positionless kid/late bloomer or a salary dumb/change of scenery type of candidate. More importantly, It's only for a year and would fill areas of need for both teams. It's not like there can't be risk on our part either as well.
  20. I think Wilson and pieces for Sandoval is more likely. It's a semi salary dumb and change of scenery type situation but for 13-15M per, it makes you think about for a second.
  21. Happy Thanksgiving wishes to everyone. Try and be safe tonight and if you partake, may your deals be forever worth it.
  22. You act like C.J. is a poster child for going deep into ballgames! We should try and trade him because you generally know what your going to get out of him, if healthy. You get a change of scenery for him and you save some money for us, which can help both parties. He wont turn his career around I'm sure or anything so it's not like it would be for lock down major league talent. We don't have too go after Lawrie per say but we should look to improve the pen or infield through trades. Signing Zobrist, Gordon/Upton and Maeda could be a few go too moves, that won't break the bizzank.
  23. You think a Wilson, 5-10M in cash, Kubitza, and Bedrosian package could work?
  24. We could do something like this and really bulk up the pen instead of going for a front end starter. Maybe focus more on Maeda?
