taylorblakeward got a reaction from 101halo in The Official 2018 Minor League Statline and Prospect Discussion Thread
I thought Angels Win was the primary source for Angels minor league info...
Stevens is pretty much low/mid 90's with a big breaker and seems to have scrapped his changeup since he's a reliever, good control, I called him a 35/40 FV guy before the season
I haven't seen Ortega and haven't had someone bring him up to me so either a way under-the-radar guy that is creeping into some form past org pitcher, or just bland stuff that works well for the level

I saw him 4-5 times at UCLA and never had him sit over 92-94 and had very limited 95's. I spoke with Rahul quite a bit yesterday and his radar gun sources were reliable so if it is 94-96 then it's a new fastball. His change shows 60 and my grades are based on future, but I'd put it at 50/55 current.
Also, Rahul and I are working on all the details of internship but the plan is to bring him on full time once my new contract comes in to play and we can work a contract for Rahul when/if he's willing. I would take his word (and Brent Maguire's) over just about anyone not coming from a major outlet (FanGraphs, BA, MLB) when it comes to Angels prospects.

taylorblakeward got a reaction from Chuck in Angels could be in on Kevin Maitan
Not sure if it's been touched on or not but Kevin Maitan's development has hit a pretty hard stand still. Scouts are pretty torn about if it's culture shock or if it's a real problem but he's physically tapped out at 17 and his swing has gotten VERY ugly over the last year. It could be a development issue or it could be a mechanical issue adapting to his larger frame but many in the industry do not consider him a "Top 100" prospect anymore but instead, a physical project with projectable tools (i.e. every organization has one of these guys).

taylorblakeward got a reaction from totdprods in Angels prospect hit .315/.387/.573 in 2016
I watched John Schuknecht play at Poly, and came away with pretty limited notes. Power is 50 raw, 45 in game. Aside from that, I didn't see a whole lot.
There's plenty of thud in his swing, but there's still a lot of swing-and-miss in his game.
