10 million per year for Span is definitely not an overpay.

I don't agree with the Upton being the best choice thoughts. He is being labeled as a guy who doesn't have a strong work ethic or attitude, and that is one of the big negatives on why he hasn't been signed yet. I could be wrong but it seems every year, Upton has extended slumps and his stats are bolstered by fast starts. He's the type of player I would worry about after getting his money in a big contract.

You people do realize it's Dec 16th, right? It's like you love wallowing in despair thinking there's no way to improve.

I wish there was a tab for hate this, you are an idiot, for posts on AW.

I feel very positive we will upgrade and sign one of the LF's. But it really concerns me to hear that he is staying in house with the bullpen. We would really need Bedrosian to turn the corner and be affective.

I'm feeling uneasy that we haven't made a move as well, then I look and see that none of the big FA OF's have signed yet.

If we don't upgrade at 2nd and roll Gia out there again, it reduces the gain from the trade for Simmons. Defense up the middle is critical and having a weak link at one of those positions really hurts. I have a picture of Simmons turning a quick DP and Gia not even being able to handle the throw.

Never cared for Lawrie. Seems like a tool.

There is no BP so blame it on the manager.

The hope is that Robbie Ray, who I think is the Dbacks best starter, is going tomorrow and will give Houston a fight. Lefty has thrown well at times this year.

Of everything today, I'm shocked that we don't drill Odor. And then he goes yard.

Umpires screwing us this series

I don't agree with everything he does, but there are many many worse out there.

For all the Scioscia haters, who do you want in his place?

I am grateful for the clutch hits and fire Gia has brought to the team this year, but it's been a perfect storm for him that will be impossible to replicate. He's a .260-70 hitter who seems to come up with clutch hits almost every time he's in a big spot. The problem is his defense is so bad, his clutch hitting is a wash most of the time. You can't be weak up the middle in baseball. C, SS, 2nd and CF have to be solid defenders. Giavotella has looked better lately and is a gamer but he has no instincts on defense. When he has a throw to make he usually lobs it over to first because he is so unsure of himself. His quick throws are usually extremely unpredictable. If you look at WS champions and contenders over the years, they are very strong defensively up the middle.

Richards will grow into a top 10 pitcher very soon. People forget about his season ending injury and the fact he was out for the first month of the season getting healthy enough to pitch in games. SP's who throw 95 with the movement he has are rare. I expect him to be the Angels #1 starter unless they go sign a Price level pitcher. People need to stop being prisoner of the moment and start thinking long term.

You guys should be motivational speakers. I feel good about the Texas series. This team never quits.

Zito is the lefty Weaver

90% of comments are on how much Scioscia sucks. I'm guessing most of you have any baseball managerial experience?

Not sure where people are getting this steady 4 year decline. He had a down year last year but the previous 3 were pretty strong offensive seasons.
