  1. Ok! The Angels DID NOT sign C Will Smith to a 10 year 140 mil contract. I know thats not what you meant, but it was the best I could do given the lack of news today. Tomorrow we all get to obsess over Angels baseball again.
  2. JT Realmuto signed for 5 years 115 mil. If I were the Dodgers I'd be giggling my ass off to get him that cheap.
  3. I voted for 79 and under wins in that other thread because of this uncertainty. That's not to say I don't think they have the talent to win more games than that, it's just the reality that the team as it is currently built can't be expected to win as is. They are basically where they were in the days before Stoneman and MS where they assembled a team and HOPED they could win. I really wanted to see them add some IF help, I still think they should have added a catcher that could help O'Hoppe with the parts of his game that are clearly lacking, I wish they still had Molina around to do that. Too much of this team's potential output is tied to veteran players coming back from injuries and young guys taking that next step forward -- so again, there is a lot of hoping involved. Trout's coming back from a hamate fracture and while the recovery from that to previous levels is really high but historically guys have tended to take a bit to see their power fully return. With Rendon we still have no idea if his legs are shot or not -- I didn't see him enough to have a real clue if he's still trying to do all his hitting with his wrists but if his legs are shot he's done IMO. The batting eye is still there so, pretty sure that's why he's at the top of the lineup and the concerns about his being able to pull a ball are why he's not in the middle of the lineup. Low expectations but at least it will be fun to potentially see the team work in a group of young players for the first time since the early 10s. Hopefully soon they are back to where they are expecting and not hoping to win.
  4. Clearly everyone misunderstood. When they said being over the cap wasn't going to have any impact they simply meant payroll was going to be pared back either way. I had Ippei translate it all for me.
  5. You know he kept replica jerseys of his catchers ....just in case he needed to "fix" things.
  6. Pfft. Rickey Henderson could decide he wanted to be a SS at 65 ... Just ask Rickey what Rickey thinks.
  7. To a point yes. But a catcher needs to recognize when his pitcher is falling into a pattern. But you can obviously argue the coaching needs, to recognize and point it out too.
  8. One of those looked like a split he didn't get on top of and it didn't split. Silseth tends to get into a groove pace wise and gets sloppy with stuff like that. He's the anti Suarez where he could really benefit from someone walking to the mound and slowing him down.
  9. Silseth needs a different game plan the second time through the lineup. If you track his pitches he tends to fall into a pattern. This is where someone like Stassi would have helped and an area where O'Hoppe is still in need of help.
  10. Bingo, which is why Mota translations were always hilarious. Dude said whatever the hell he wanted to say.
  11. Pericles was a little bitch! He couldn't survive the plague, what made him think he could beat the Spartans.
  12. Hard to defend the 180 his lawyers made. I don't really have a clue if he was betting but dude knew he was paying off his bookie and the rules are pretty clear. If the next story (because there have been 3???) is that he wasn't aware it was an illegal bookie when he paid the debts then how is that any different than all the players popped for PEDs that claimed they didn't know it was a banned substance. F the Dodgers.
