  1. Bats are very quiet again today so far. 9 K, 0 BB. This is probably how it's going to be for as long as these scrubs are playing: mostly quiet, then random outbursts like last night. Just boring baseball. I'm curious to see how the series against the Cardinals goes. They're also struggling (dead-last in the NL in runs scored per game, 3rd-worst in runs given up per game). Could go either way: lots of 2-1-type games, or 9-7-type games.
  2. Sandoval allowed 11 hits. I know some of them weren't hard contact, but still...jeez.
  3. Kochanowicz with his best start by far this year in today's game. 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 7 K.
  4. I'm less concerned about his execution there than I am about why he was trying to bunt in the first place.
  5. I guess it was too much to expect Sandoval to have three straight solid starts in a row.
  6. From Jeff Fletcher's column today: "Infielders Luis Rengifo (virus) and Miguel Sanó (knee inflammation) were both on the field doing drills before Sunday’s game. The Angels are hoping that Rengifo will be back sometime in the next week, and there’s no timetable for Sanó."
  7. From Jeff Fletcher's column today: "As outfielder Jo Adell continues his strong start to the season, questions persist about whether Washington should move him up from the bottom of the order. Washington tried him briefly up in the order a couple weeks ago, and he didn’t like the way Adell seemed to change his approach. Now, he’s content to keep him where he is. “When you’ve got a kid that hasn’t had success, and he’s having success … I’m not going to test Jo Adell right now,” Washington said. “That’s not to say somewhere in the season he might not hit fourth, but right now I’m happy where he is and he’s not bugging me about moving.”
  8. It won't be a "record low" for attendance, but it will likely be down significantly from the higher levels of years past. So far, attendance is down an average of 3,317 from last season, which is the fourth-largest decrease in the majors (the Mets, Blue Jays, and Astros have had larger declines so far). https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2024-misc.shtml
  9. Yep! He's hit 2 HR in a game a couple times, but this is the first time he's hit HRs in back-to-back games.
  10. Nelson Rada came out of tonight's game in the 2nd inning. Did anyone here watch the game? Can't find anything specific on Twitter about what, if anything, might have happened.
  11. And he still hasn't explained why he thinks a team with Tucker, Pillar, Goodrum, Calhoun, etc. should be better than their current record.
  12. Even with Joyce's struggles at Rocket City, I do think he'll be up by July, if not sooner. My guess is that they'll keep sending Estevez out there as the closer for as long as they can, if for no other reason than to hope he rights himself and retains some semblance of trade value. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a feeling the perception of his value might be diminished if he's moved out of the closer role, even if he pitches a little better in another role. I know that's illogical, but still have a feeling it probably has some bearing on their decision.
