I agree that he gets kudos for eating the Pujols and Upton contracts. It's the best thing for the on-field product.

This is truly a baseball crime with those 3 teams. It doesn’t cost anywhere nears $70 million for non- player expenses!
This is on top of what they make from ticket sales, local TV revenue, merchandise, Playoff TV, and MLB properties

When the Padres sold off in the '90s they were trying to get their payroll below $38 million (inflation adjusted). This year there are three teams with payrolls less than $32 million despite receiving $110 million a year in revenue sharing.

I just finished reading this book. Has anyone else read it?
It's a fascinating look at the history of the business side of the game. The Players Association was able to run over the owners because they were unified and the owners had the wrong incentives and couldn't unify. Say what ever you will about Selig and Manafort, they have unified the owners to the benefit of the sport and the owner's pocket books.
The best parts of the book were about Marvin Miller, the rest got a little long in the tooth for me but also explained with great clarity why the Padres sell off in the early '90s made sense.

T-Mobile subscribers have gotten the mlb.tv subs for free for a few years now
So, if you have a friend who has t-mobile and doesn't watch baseball, and know how to use a vpn, that's an option.
MLB.tv found a way to block VPN.

If these negotiations were about compettive balance then there would be sensible salary tiers and individual player caps so that when a top tier player hits the market their maximum salary and years would be a set number.
The Tampa Bay Rays have effectively destroyed ALL arguments that large budgets are the only way to have a competitive team. Over and over and over again they prove it's not the only way.

I’m tired of these damn players wanting more and more money. I wish they could be out here and making 2,000 dollars a month and see how it feels. There are people out here that can’t afford to by things they need or want and can’t have unlike these little crying bitches. They have a nice mansion like house with theater in them, bowling, tennis and basketball court. They have like 3 cars Lamborghini and other expensive cars and they cry like they need more money. They need a cap and stop this crap where trams can’t afford to get great players.
Why do you prefer the owner with 3 yachts to have the money rather than the players? Who do you watch baseball games to see Arte or Trout? The money has been generated and now it's time to decide who gets it. All of the feelings about crying players can be equally applied to billionaire owners.

The cap is a defacto salary cap, and it's not even meeting inflation, which means the actual buying power of their salaries is going down.

We all thought he would spend if he didn't have to pay the tax. That doesn't appear to be the case.
Quote"Ilitch was one of four owners against the offer, along with Bob Castellini (Cincinnati Reds), Ken Kendrick (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Arte Moreno (Los Angeles Angels), according to The Athletic's Evan Drellich."

I would trade Marsh + for two years of Gallo without blinking.
Great defense. 80-grade arm. Good speed. Enormous power. High OBP.
The thing is, position players don't typically cost that much. Starting pitchers are where everyone gives up prospects.

Try the VPN for a Japan site. It worked for me with hola.
I tried this, and other countries, and it still didn't work. Is your MLB account set for Japan?

anyone else having problems logging into MLB.tv over a VPN? I get logged out immediately.

MLB.tv has a BUNCH of extra stuff aside from the video when you watch with a browser. Amazingly they have no way to remove any of that stuff. This link has an amazing solution for toggling the box score on and off.

The new tickets are available now.

so when does the team increase the ticket sales?
