  1. in 2008 kershaw made the league minimum.

in 2009, he got it again

    in 2010, he got a 10% raise

in 2011, he got another 10% raise

he won a cy young and got 7.5mil in arb

the next year (last year), he got 11mil.

he just signed a 7yr contract for 30mil/yr.

    don't sweat it.

That was when McCheap owned the Doyers. New owners, I have a feeling if Magic and company were in charge back then, Kershaw would have made more money and if McCheap were still the owner Kershaw would be a Yankee next year.

  2. The Dodgers did say they would offer Kershaw an extension this offseason. Maybe he turned it down which now has the Dodgers looking for a cheaper option to lock up someone for 5 years. Or it could be a bluff to get Clayton and his agent to rethink the offer and take it. That could be the reason why the Dodgers went public saying they wouldn't be outbid for Tanaka.

Except they didn't say they wouldn't be outbid, the reporter that stated that backtracked a hour later. The Doyers have said they won't spend wildly on Tanaka.

  3. I got it from Dipoto.

That being said. I don't know if John's tweet was after mine, but it's possible they had nothing scheduled when I asked Dipoto and had something scheduled later.

That's why I couched mine that I expected the Angels to be involved regardless of whether anything had officially been scheduled at the time of my tweet.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports

"There was no official word from any of the teams said to have meetings planned, as it appears this is being taken as a heavily guarded secret. The Angels were originally believed to be on the meeting list, but a source denied that they were."

If you read the link Heyman agrees with you, the Angels have no meeting planned. I wonder if that means they already moved on?
  4. My proof is a bit more solid than your proof that Arte nixed the Kendrick deal with the Dodgers.

According to the Times the Kendrick deal fell apart because of the prospects being offered. They agreed on Lee but not on who else was coming. So Dipoto nixed it not Arte.

  5. That is certainly interesting, given how sparse the market is.

They're either broke, completely nuts, or have something up their sleeves, I guess. Not sure I like the odds of one of those better than the others at this point.

According to Fletcher they are Targeting Tanaka or Garza and Feldman, along with any pitcher that isn't old or connected with a draft pick.
  6. "Doesn't want to" =/="Won't". It was a fair assumption to make that he doesn't want to go over the tax. But he may have to if he wants his team to remain competitive.

It could be he doesn't want to for this coming season knowing that Trout will get a big raise next year and better pitchers will be available. He then can go over in 2015 and 2016 with lots of money coming off the books in 17. I could be wrong, but it also could be he thinks none of the FA this year are worth going over.

  7. I'm puzzled why they felt the Nats' offer was better than Kendrick.  I guess the salary dump made it more worthwhile.

Why would they trade for Kendrick when they just traded for Kinsler? Once they traded Fielder for Kinsler, that ended any chance of them wanting HK.

  8. Not really sure why the Angels have not locked up Colon. IMHO I think he can be had for a fair price with incentives. I get why people are staying away from him, but im sure a release from contract can be written into his contract if he comes up hot.

According to the A's Colon is looking for two years at 15 to 16 million, is that a fair deal ? Maybe in Jan. he can be had at a fair price, right now he's asking for moon IMHO.

  9. Every year since I was 9 years old (I'm 43 now) I've entered a new season filled with optimism, despite what the team was like on paper.

This will probably never change. Though the frustrating part for me is the Angels' teams that have been assembled the past fours were pretty damn good on paper, all with a very good chance to make the playoffs and do something.

After 2009 they lost Vlad, Lackey, Figgy not sure I would say the team they assembled in 2010 and 2011 were playoff teams on paper. 2012 was the team that should of , could of , would of, if only Haren and Santana didn't suck, along with the bullpen. I still very much believe in this team depending on the next move Dipoto makes.
