  1. Ridiculously impressive that he can throw off balance, across his body, falling away towards the dugout, and throw an absolute laser of a strike on the fly. A lot of third basemen couldn't get that kind of accuracy and velocity on a throw from there if they set their feet. That said, I'm not a big fan of "making it right" plays after a bobble or some kind of mistake. The throw was absolutely incredible but I hate calling makeup plays "play of the year."
  2. Have to admit you really couldn't ask for more from him. 16/17 save opportunities, striking out a ton. Some of his saves aren't pretty, but he gets the job done, especially for someone that a lot of people thought was just supposed to fill in until they got Madson back. I remember a thread in mid may where AO and a lot of the other regulars here were calling for his head on a platter but it's hard to do anything but admire what he's done at the moment... Keep up the good work Ernesto!
  3. Complaining about crippling a franchise with "risky signings" then spouting off that we need to go sign a bunch of EXTREMELY risky deals by giving largely unproven players enormous contracts and cherrypicking the successful signings? The Puig deal was almost unanimously looked at as crazy by the whole league (most of us included) and most of us thought the darvish deal was a joke and we had won with CJ as well. In my opinion, think what you want about the Hamilton/Pujols signing, but suggesting they're crap and too risky and then suggesting something silly like giving huge contracts to unproven overseas prospects who are JUST as risky seems short-sighted to me. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong here but wasn't even single one of those signings considered wasteful, risky, and too expensive by most of the "experts" when they first happened? Let's not even get INTO the fact that you got the countries wrong on all 4 players ><
  4. Just found this a second ago and it illustrates what I was trying to say but with numbers. Trout's a great CF but Bourjos is just better (holy hell 39 UZR/150) http://www.monkeywithahalo.com/2013-articles/march/should-peter-bourjos-really-play-center-field-over-mike-trout.html
  5. Bourjos is the better CF and should be in center. Trout is unbelievably athletic, takes great routes/great reads, and makes some sensational catches, but (especially now that Trout has added some muscle) I think bourjos is faster. I think Bourjos looks less sensational because he simply makes a lot of the catches that others (including Trout sometimes) would have to dive for standing up.
  6. O_O Those home runs were HUGE. Just got back from the king's game and watched the replays, that hamilton home run is one of the longest shots I've seen in this stadium, and Trout and Pujols both got theirs over the bullpen. Impressive. I just looked at the ESPN summary. All 4 Halo home runs were over 400 feet and 3 of them were over 430. When is the last time that happened?
  7. I thought the hangup on the miggy trade was Wood? Sad/weird to think that a simple baseball decision like choosing to keep him instead of dealing him could mean the difference between life and death for a player. Adenhart could potentially be alive and thriving right now if they had chosen to deal him. Crazy that such seemingly inconsequential things can be so huge.
  8. Yeah, you're right. Booting a routine fly ball totally warrants throwing things and swearing at his wife and young child to the point where they needed extra security. That wasn't classless at all, Hamilton was. lol.
  9. With our injured pitchers back in it doesn't look NEARLY as bad RHP : Madsen, Frieri, Jepsen LHP: Burnett, Maronde, Downs Looks fine to me, if they can just get madsen and jepsen healthy I think we'll be fine...
  10. HOLY CRAP What did I just see! That was RIDICULOUS!
