Albert got a night off to keep his legs fresh for the next 8 years.
-
Don't worry.
Conger is going to hit a grand slam here.
-
Because he's La Machina?
-
But all the excitement threads of how he'll carry us to a World Series win...
...all seem so long ago.
-
I can't remember the rules.
Are we not allowed to wish for injury to one of our own players?
-
A friend said "Don't worry about these games, they are insta-wins since it's AAAstros at HOME!"
I reminded him that the Angels are the only reason the AAAstros have any wins this year.
He said he'd bet me $200 they wouldn't come close to losing a game.
I left good money on the table.

I think if there was a bright outlook on the team right now, the future, the farm system, etc...
...all this would be a little easier (though not tasty) to swallow.
Right now though, it's hard not to feel pity.
Nothing like your ex losing some weight, looking hot, and is suddenly unresistable to everyone.
Meanwhile you're at home playing XBox...with a friend of a friend of an MLB player....
Oh, it was your choice to break up.

We'll see at year end but for now, salt...meet open wound.

Segura is playing way out of his mind but damn, it sucks seeing him kill it like this. He's been the best SS in baseball.
I'm not sure I disagree.
I know not every trade or signing we make blows up, but it sure seems like a lot of painful memories lately (and some still stuck in our face for almost a decade more!)
-
LOL.
Tommy looks pretty good for his age.
If I live to be 125 years old, I'd agree.
The Angels play will kill me long before then.

I was just trying to Google an answer to my last question and found an interesting piece of trivia.
Of course for when it happened (late 1800's), it's not actually fair given today's game but...
...there was actually one PITCHER that got 6 hits in a 9 inning game.
Guy Hecker
8/15/1886. The year Lasorda was born.
-
Very very nice.
Only one Angel has ever done it in 9 innings I think...
Figgy.
Not sure if any have done it with 9+ innings on the Angels.
-
Silver lining:
If you are a SoCal sports fan and have no biases, you might be happy the Angels could be the launching pad the Doyers needed.
F|_|ck that, but it will likely be true.
It's trAdition as of late.
-
Normally, I'm fine with it.
They have had a great streak given their play as of late.
You need to lose sooner or later.
It's fine.
'Cept they really threw one away and that is all I'm pissed at.
-
Yep, been fun to watch and listen to.
And I don't care if they are beating great teams or not, wins are what we need and badly.
Can't complain about anything right now other than the slow start - nice streak but potentially still 10 back after tonight.
I'll be happy when we beat the Doyers into the ground. Don't let up now!
-
I missed it. I was reading the Walking Dead.
Michonne cut some zombie's heads off.
EDIT:
That is both great...
...and scary.
If you came at me on that bike and yelled BRO!, I'd feel the sudden need to chop firewood.

Give this guy a lifetime contract...I don't care what the cost. They can never let a talent like this get away. He's the best talent this org has ever produced and for our sake and the rest of baseball's sake, hopefully he stays healthy for his career
Slow dooowwwnn. I love the guy too but lets not forget the start of the season compared to last season. I still don't have a good sense of where his norms will be.
But...he definitely is the most exciting player on the team.
Lesson learned. Give me a youthful handful of Trouts and Trumbos over Pujols' and Hamiltons.

Reading ESPN comments are always good for a laugh.
If the world was given an enema, the tube would be stuck in Seattle.
Ouch.
-
That was great to watch.
The most impressive part of it all?
His speed, or it wouldn't have happened. Especially the single.
Less Big Macs, More cycles please.
-
I don't know about him not getting 25+ starts.
Rumors have it Scioscia likes his girth.
-
Yeah, we need to worry about the Mariners first!
Sadly, right now Texas looks every bit their record - and I'm not investing in the summer wilt theory.
-
You are correct, I should be fired.
I never did understand that promotion I received in the offseason.
-
I'm honestly surprised that no Angel team of any year lost 100 games.
And even in my post pessimistic state, I'd never have imagined this incarnation of a team could dare broach it.
Imagine if someone even hinted at it. Ever.
And now, amazingly, they have a very real chance of doing it.
At least if the first quarter of the season is any indication.
While they likely won't be going anywhere this year, I just can't see them losing 100 games.
Would I be shocked at this point?
Nope.
I want to believe any team can just get hot but if the last few years with different players resulted in tepid crap, I can't see this year changing other than having blind myopic hope.

That is why a manager can make all the difference in the world.
Everyone says Phil Jackson only won because he had the best. He had superstars, that is correct.
But he knew how to motivate them and get them focused when they would lose it because he simply knew how to push the right buttons, even if he was not always warm and fuzzy with a given star.
He knew how to challenge them and basically play with pride.
They got their money. Scioscia simply can't connect with them anymore to keep the focus there. Once can easily question if he was ever the one that knew how.
