  1. So having just finished watching the game and bouncing around fan sites including here, I see a thread title:

    "Dick Trickle"

Well, I did just watch the game.

I've heard of him but didn't make the connection as I didn't know he passed today.

    R.I.P.

  2. Well, he has a point. Oakland got hit hard with injuries and they're tanking.

Every team in every sport deals with injuries.

If you feel you are watching a quality product managed to their full potential and displaying the baseball smarts, hustle, and general competitive spirit you should expect...

...then I'm genuinely happy for you.

    I'm also jealous.  Because I don't.

Maybe I've now simply become so angry and jaded that I need a management change just to reconnect with this team.

F*CK this team.  It isn't worth even trying to talk about anymore.

But I'll probably come off the ledge just enough to get disappointed again tomorrow.

  3. Injuries. No way a team could possibly maintain a winning season in this division with several key players on the DL, including the opening day starting pitcher.

    LOL!

Honestly, I'm not trying to troll.  This gave me a good laugh.

I think it's why I've learned to enjoy this site, especially during losses.

  4. Don't worry.

A closed door meeting and the season starts anew tomorrow!

Also, this is the toughest part of their schedule so it's expected to see them struggle.

    Just ask Rodger Lodge.

He's known as a resident baseball expert.

  5. I'm still waiting for a reason when someone WOULD fire Scioscia.

It would be the first ever posted on the internet by Scioscia supporters.

Allegedly MLB.com is paying $500 for proof of a valid reason for an upcoming story.

  6. Public Service Announcement

Scioscia is no way responsible for the actions of our players.

He is to be praised as without him, this team would make far more foolish decisions.

    Pray for his continued success.

-Paid for by those without a brain or those who have determined there is no use in having one

  7. I think Weaver may remain a good pitcher for a whole his years of being a dominant ace like his near cy-Young year in 2011 are done.

I hope so.  Give me a team full of Weavers, Erstys, and even good 'ole Willits and I'll watch them day in and day out and barely complain (I hope) - win or lose.

Their competitive nature and drive is why I watch sports.

Yep, Hamilton and Pujols might still be more talented but I see someone jog to first or not dive for a ball they could have WHILE getting paid 20x as much, it pisses me off to no end.

  8. It is 2013.  Alot of the players you think are talented have passed their expiration date.  Pujols, Hamilton, Weaver.

    This.  Over and over.

Except I'd wait to know if Weaver has passed his peak.  He's such a competitor he might learn to use different pitches as many great pitchers have been able to do as they age - but many cannot find that formula as well.

And yes, we know the number of MLB players and how hard it is and how talented they all are, blah blah.

    Amazingly, talent is relative.

  9. Totally agree with OP.  Keep in mind though you are saying how overy talented we thought the team was.  I think you mean Angel fans, not the rest of baseball.

And I'll even question Weaver.  No doubt what he HAS been for us, just like we know what Pujols WAS.

I have very large question mark about his velocity.  He's probably in the top 3 for my favorite Angel pitchers ever, but I'm concerned.  Maybe it's the crap with the rest of the team year after year that has me gun shy now.

Might not be a big deal.  We'll know over the rest of the season.

I see no way to fix this mess.  None.

Not quickly and not easily.  And with the farm being what it is, ugh.

  10. Ahhh !*$, infringement on the thread title!   I patented the way I used the dash between the numbers to denote the negative space, sinking feeling that Blanton exudes.

    I'm calling an Apple lawyer.

  11. I can stomach a lot of crap to go wrong with a team since it's impossible to predict the future (outside of shitstupid trades), but them keeping this jackass on the air really gives the team a bad image.

I can no longer blame ANY non-SoCal sports fan if they happen to be visiting, turn on the radio, hear this nozzle, and then go back home and say "Man, they have nice weather but they don't know shyte about sports."

I'm convinced he doesn't actually understand any sport he talks about.

He's still (unfortunately) being paid to bring his pom poms in.  If they keep paying for that, at least have some nice breasts to go with it, not man tits.

  12. So if we DFA him or just marginalize him, we're ok pissing away $15M for NO production (but he can't hurt us anymore).

Yet with Fatty, we don't mind the $25M for NEGATIVE production if you subscribe to the fact that he is keeping the club from it's natural progression let alone help it exceed it's potential.

    Sigh.

I miss the days of just worrying if Percy was legally blind when he squinted in to get the sign and you know whomever was up to bat squeezed his cheeks a bit.
