  1. Is it really that difficult to grasp a point? To be a good team, eventually you have to show you can beat another good team. If the discussion is about whether to tear the team down or not, beating the cubs doesn’t do much to show they can compete with top teams.
  2. Trout HR was great, but it says nothing about being able to project him improving overall for the season. He hit a hanging breaking ball out, and proceeded to K twice after that, swinging through 94 middle middle in the process. The fact he can’t hit a fastball located anywhere above the knees should still be extremely concerning.
  3. Trout!! but seriously, why would anybody throw him a breaking ball at this point? I just have to laugh.
  4. It’s not that simple for Mike. Those pitches he’s swinging through, those are strikes. He just can’t hit them. His swing is long and loopy at this point. This will end up his worst season by far I predict, and hopefully it spurs change.
  5. I said something negative about Phil, so here comes Phil’s dad Swordman to his rescue. Tell us, what’s the main issue?
  6. Bench Ohtani for not running hard through first base as well.
  7. Eyeroll. Could’ve just as easily been Sandoval. And I’m not a Nevin fan. He’s not a major league quality manager.
  8. Sandoval wants to fucking bitch and moan about every call he doesn’t get, every play that doesn’t get made, and then he doesn’t even get over to cover his base. His ass deserved to be pulled.
  9. But a lot of people on this board think that teaching and learning stops when you get to the major leagues because they’re all finished products. That narrative is so flawed it’s unbelievable.
  10. You’re right. Apart from the physical skills part, the actual decision making process on the part of our players is seriously lacking.
  11. With guys on pitchers are not going to take risks and throw him a breaking ball unless they’re stupid, like the White Sox.
  12. You can’t be up with runner on third and 1 out if you’re never on the field.
  13. No I don’t “fault” the hitting coach. I think it’s a good possibility the hitting coaches don’t know how to help him, though maybe not and maybe Trout is still trying to adapt, who knows. But this is not a new issue. This stuff can get pretty complicated and you’re talking about changing muscle memory and movement patterns.
  14. No. Not a decline. He is not swinging correctly. He needs a hitting coach who understands.
  15. They shouldn’t be. 94 blows Trout away. Any breaking ball on the outer half gets Ohtani flailing stupidly, and just don’t hang a slider to Renfroe and you’re good.
  16. We don’t have top baseball minds at the helm of this organization. Other teams are light years ahead of us. It’s clear.
