  1. I'm reeaaalllly starting to come around on Aybar or Callaspo hitting out of the 2-spot.
  2. hmm, maybe there's a reason MS has this guy lined up as the 5th starter. It's only spring, but eeesh. The thought of this Hanson pitching in Texas that first weekend is frightening.
  3. you have to wonder how much MS is going to be tempted to start Wells when the season begins.
  4. yeah, seems like sentimentality is the only thing keep his butt up here. A comeback isn't looking too likely.
  5. yeah I'm guess we'll end up with DHs in both leagues eventually too.
  6. they're going to have to hit on a somewhat regular basis this year because of the new format. Good idea to get them some ABs this spring in hopes that they're not all completely useless in interleague games.
  7. I think you have to go by track record over spring numbers. For instance, Weaver got lit up last spring, then came out in April on fire and even tossed a no-hitter. In the case of someone like today's pitcher, Vargas, he's put up solid numbers in the regular season, so just because he looks less than completely sharp in the spring, I'm not reading anything into it.
  8. hehe. will be interesting to see who the odd man out is on Opening Day. I guess Bourjos, with Trumbo playing LF and Trout CF gives us the most offense, which we will probably need against CIN.
  9. Seconded. He's WAY more professional and knowledgeable than Lodge, but man is he dry. Just not what you want for your morning commute.
  10. Agreed. It does seem odd that all of a sudden Conger's defense isn't good enough for him to be the back-up catcher. If this was the case, they should have done more in the offseason to get help.
  11. man that really has to be depressing if you're Conger. Next thing you know the Angels will decide to just use one of those pitch-back net things on days Iannetta doesn't start.
  12. wow, so maybe there isn't any mystery as to who gets the last 2 spots. Not like Cordero looks like a realistic option at this point.
  13. yeah, very curious to see what the last couple spots in the bullpen look like . . . assuming Madson starts the season on the DL, we have: Frieri Downs Burnett Jepsen Williams last 2 spots: Maronde, Carpenter, Geltz, Taylor, and I guess Richards (but I think they want him stretched out in AAA as our 6th starter)
  14. would be nice to see Hanson have a good outing today.
  15. The guy is purposely taking it easy on the knee right now, not running full speed, so it's kind of hard to judge. If it were a real game situation that counted and he was still real slow/running gingerly, then I would be concerned. But yeah, as someone said above, the fact that he's already crushing the ball leads me to believe he's feeling pretty good, and just being extra cautious while running.
  16. something tells me Callaspo will be the board's whipping boy this season. I predict the first "call up Cowart" thread for the third week in April.
  17. man, somebody cryogenically freeze Howie and we'll thaw him out on March31st.
  18. i wonder if Bourjos batting 7th is simply a result of Aybar not being here, or if it's something MS is really planning on doing.
  19. Wouldn't mind seeing Sutton take over the radio PBP. Never been a big Terry Smith fan - his voice is too nasally and he doesn't have enough personality. He also made Angel Talk pretty much unlistenable.
