Sarcasm off. Just being optimistic. I don't think this team has many holes. Adell and Canning are can't miss all stars. Rotation wise I think we are solid if everyone stays healthy. Bullpen is a crap shoot no sense spending money. Line up with Calhoun rebounding and Adell breaking out as a rookie of the year candidate with Ohtani DH'ing the whole year. This team might be unstoppable.

Well if we did we would be getting superior defense and paying half the price for those catchers.
That's great... Still would only have 4 hitters in the regular lineup that we can count on.

Ramos has a career .317 OBP. Guessing that’s why the Angels didn’t get him.
If you’re great defensively, that’s acceptable. But he’s not.
So we will add Martin Maldonado and his .276 obp or Lucroy and his .291 obp?

I'll believe what the guy (Tim Naehring), that worked under him (Eppler hired him as a scout), and has replaced him with the Yankees has told me about the position. Damon Oppenheimer runs the amateur scouting -- Eppler ran the professional scouting while they know what each other is doing, they work independently of each other. Your article goes states PROFESSIONAL scouting. Being an assistant GM, he sat in on everything but again -- he had NO say into the amateur drafting.
BTW -- Naehring while having NOTHING to do with the Angels has two years running tipped me off to who the Angels were supposedly hard on and been right both times. It's not a huge industry -- people who know each other also know what the others are doing.
So has he tipped you off about anyone for the Angels this off-season?

Eppler also said that he would prefer a defensive minded catcher.

Eppler said Tuesday was about 50/50 in terms of meeting with agents and talking with other clubs about potential trades. He also clarified his football analogy from Monday, when he said they could go for a field goal but wanted to score a touchdown.
"There are some small things we could do right now, but we're not sure we want to do those quite yet in hopes we can do things that are above smaller," Eppler said.

We are a couple days away from the start of the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas. I thought it would be fun to make some predictions on potential trades or free agent signings
Predict one non Angel transaction: Reds acquire Sonny Grey
Predict one Angel trade/FA signing: Angels sign Adam Ottavino
Predict one "out of left field" trade: Yankees trade Stanton to Dodgers for Alex Wood, and prospects

Wonder how soon before the Halos sign someone? No rush of course, just the curiosity in me
The just signed Peter Bourjos to a minor league deal.

Angels sign Gio Gonzalez to 2 year $22 million deal
Angels trade for Francisco Cervelli and Ivan Nova
Angels sign Mike Moustakas 2 year $17 million

He hit .292avg 3hrs 21 rbi 348 OBP in 172 at bats this season. Not a bad option.

Tyler Skaggs' quotes about Scioscia seemed less than enthusiastic
That's as contrarian as it will get.
You aren't going to hear negative things about him from anyone involved in baseball (fans know nothing... or next to nothing at best) Especially current players, coaches, broadcasters, and reporters. What good would come from it?
What did Skaggs say?

Rosenthal has a new article discussing the Angels offering Trout an extension this winter. He says Moreno does not want to trade Trout, but they do not want him to leave with only a comp pick in the draft. Rosenthal reiterated that a trade is still highly unlikely.
Execs think Padres, Braves and Yankees are matches due to their farm systems. One exec said a package from Atlanta would include Ender inciarte, Sean newcomb, and their 2, 3, 4, and 7 prospects Wright, Anderson, Riley, and toussiant.

Ummmm...Call up! Bees Manager Keith Johnson will be joining the @Angels Major League coaching staff. Effective today, Angels Special Assistant Eric Chavez will assume managerial responsibilities for the Bees through the conclusion of the 2018 season.
Interesting...

Kaleb Cowart was pulled in 1st inning of the Salt Lake Bees game tonight. He was pulled while on defense after two leadoff walks. Trade? Call up? Injury?

I love the trade. Grichuck and bourjos have had injuries in the past. Same with Freese. Calhoun and JB made bourjos expendable. There aren't any free agent everyday 3bman worth the $ this year. Jimenez played well defensively at 3rd but his bat was suspect. Adding Freese and Calhoun to the starting lineup makes our team better.

Harper is going to the Dodgers... They don't make this trade unless they have that lined up.
