  1. I would have to think there has to be more to the deal than just Freese. Bullpen help would be great, but for some reason I think JeDi would be dumb enough to take Axford of their hands. If Aybar is involved then we have a huge hole at SS. If it costs Aybar to bring Lynn or Kelly back then I'm all for it. Maybe take a flyer on Furcal at SS if Aybar is dealt?? Not the greatest choice, but might be better than any in house options we have and he might help solve the leadoff spot.
  2. I'm sure Arte will release a statement today saying he is responsible for taking Jerome out and taking the blame. HAHA Just another case of Scioscia making no sense.
  3. I think the pen will start taking shape here real shortly. Madson is going to be a bit rusty once he returns. He has missed over a full season and some struggles are to be expected unfortunately. Kohn on the othe hand has been pretty consistent and impressive. Once these guys are back and settled in, their roles will be better defined and should lead to more consintency. The key turn around for me is the fact the starting pitchers are throwing a little deeper into games and we're not taxing the bullpen as bad as the begining of the season.
  4. Yes it's the same Weaver who has always pitched fairly poorly in Arlington since you want to go off such a small sample size this season. Career in Arlington : 17GS 4Wins 8Loses 17HR 5.07 ERA He only gave up 2 hits Opening Day in whats considered a hitters park. So until I see more, he is still our ACE and I don't even have a question in my mind about it. His return will help more than you think.
  5. They gave up 3 runs last night...... Our offense should be able to notch a Win when we get a pitching performance like that. The night before wasn't poor pitching either, it was poor defense. The rotation has performed a lot better over the previous couple of weeks. Once Weaver returns, and it sounds like Madson is getting close barring any setbacks, guys will start settling into their roles.
  6. I agree entirely. Isn't that every MLB teams goal with a leadoff hitter? Bourjos was producing in that spot just fine and since he's hurt your next best option is Aybar. Callaspo will just clog the bases up in front of Trout.
  7. He didn't plan on Trout being the leadoff guy all season. It was noted that they had already discussed moving Trout back in the lineup. Lets be honest, we allknow Trout belongs in a position to help drive in runs on this team. JeDi is of the new school numbers approach to baseball and as a previous poster pointed out, the #2 spot in the lineup is for the best hitter on the team; whether you agree with that or not.
  8. Enough of this hiring Salmon, Langston, Percival, etc....... These guys have no pro ball experience when it comes to coaching! NONE! If this roster has tuned out Scioscia, what makes you think they will be on board with these hirings? There's a reason why these guys are in the radio/ tv booths. We need a manager with experience. This is a roster full of veterans and was constructed to win now, not in 5 years. A leader who can come in and light a fire will get these guys going.
  9. Erstad has ZERO chance of managing this ballclub. I wouldn't mind a manager with no previous MLB experience like Ryne Sandberg (Unlikely as he will take over in Philly next season), Joey Cora or even the likes of Sandy Alomar Jr or Tony Pena Sr. (Former catchers seem to make good Managers), but I think an experienced manager is more ideal with this veteran roster. I personally wouldn't mind Ozzie Guillen. He brings the fire and passion (whether right or wrong) that could kickstart this team and will hold players accountable. He has experience, a.513 career win %, and a World Series title to go along with it. Regardless of who, a new voice is needed to guide this roster to its potential.
  10. Scioscias tenure in Anaheim should be coming to an abrupt end. I agree the roster doesn't match his managerial style.Veterans like Pujols, Hamilton and Wilson didn't just forget how to play baseball once they arrived in Anaheim. The coaching staff is incapable of guiding these players and recognizing the adjustments that need to be made. Makes you ask the question if Roenicke, Black and Maddon were the real brains behind this operation. A new voice and managerial style are needed to inject some life and a new found enthusiasm for this squad. Scioscia may very well move on and be successful somewhere else, but this team will not respond to his voice and approach anymore. A little fire and excitement has been long overdue for this team.
  11. Erstad will not be brought in to coach this team. A manager with experience is needed for this roster. Ozzie Guillen anybody? Go ahead and shoot me, but a little fire would do this team GREAT!! He still owns a .513 career win % even with that debacle in Miami last year. For all you Scioscia apoligists, Ozzie has as many WS Titles.
  12. I think Scioscias ho hum we will get them tomorrow mentality has rubbed off on this team. The team needs a leader, whether a veteran player or a vocal coach. Sometimes a new voice is necessary to get that fire started. A change in coach is now overdue. Not sure who would be a good replacement, but Larry Bowa is a fiery guy who could get this club going although a .490 career win percentage won't satisfy most people here. While they are at it, replace Butcher and bring Mike Hampton from AA to be the pitching coach.
  13. Mike Hampton is the AA pitching coach..... maybe he gets a shot at it?
  14. Bourjos isn't going anywhere. One hitless night and were ready to deal him? He's a victim of Fat Mikes seat getting extremly hot and name wasn't pulled out of the hat tonight.
