So majority of Americans think the plan is a failure but still support the decision to take action. HOW STUPID CAN WE BE??

If the majority of the idiot population approves it then you almost can't blame politicians for going along with it. It's just one ugly cycle.

I threw out 300+ but it could be more. It could be slightly less. Either way since the job can never be done and you can't even expand on what defines as a job done then sticking with 300+ years sounds pretty reasonable if troops stay in the country until we "finish the job".

Our country IS stupid. Yesterday I heard something like 68%ish of the population approve of starting a war with IS.

And the job will NEVER be done. Hence 300+ years of occupation.

I disagree with it being a leadership problem. This is a different middle east now and no matter what leader is in the white house, these countries don't want us going all Team America in their country anymore. And to be frank, I don't blame them.

Even if they are better than IS, who's to say in 4 years from now they won't want to start attacking the Kurds who ARE our allies in that region or a different ally. How many times have we armed and aligned with a group who we ended up fighting in the last 20 years? I can think of at least 3.
