"All I ask is for your forgiveness and your understanding. I also ask that you respect our privacy as we go on with our lives. This matter is certainly personal and we are trying hard to put it behind us"
OK, I get this is a personal matter...then why not keep it personal. Does the public need to know anything beyond that he left the team for family reasons? Why a press conference to basically just raise more speculation?

It was great to see for the HUGE role Rasmus could play in the playoffs. If only 4 great innings could become 5 great innings...
-
This article was only stating the obvious. We have all thought it, but not sure why an article about something so obvious was necessary. Um, yes we know. The "formula" that the experts have created for winning in the postseason will definitely be tested for this team. But, somehow the Angels have the best record in baseball despite not adhering to this formula. Not an ideal situaiton but we shall see what happens.

Do the A's hope the Angels win this series to put the Mariners further behind them,or do they go with the mindset that they still have a very slim chance they can go on a winning streak and the Angels tank and win the West?
-
Thanks ScottT. I had forgotten that there are 3-4 time slots for some of the days of the Division Series!

POSTSEASON SCHEDULE
Division Series
Thurs., Oct. 2: ALDS A, Game 1, TBS
Thurs., Oct. 2: ALDS B, Game 1, TBS
Fri., Oct. 3: ALDS A, Game 2, TBS
Fri., Oct. 3: ALDS B, Game 2, TBS
Wed., Oct. 8: ALDS A, Game 5, TBS
Wed., Oct. 8: ALDS B, Game 5, TBS
Since these are the likely ALDS games in Anaheim (and I am forgetting since it has been 4 years), does anyone remember the possible times these games would be? IIRC they are 1PM and 5PM?

Loved some of the fan reactions. Of course if it was a closer game it might not have been so funny.
-
Hey, savor the good times. Now you can add the light wave to the list of annoying things that bandwagon Angels fans do.
-
It must have been tough for him to be in AAA all year after a full year and some success in the big leagues. Definitely wish him the best but not necesarily on September 8th.
-
Does anyone think we still have a shot at a World Series?
IF we can hang on to win the division instead of a wild card.
-
The Angels biggest weakness going in to the deadline was bullpen...and they made a number of deals to improve the bullpen. According to Ike they didn't do anything to improve themselves. Always hard to take him seriously.
A team only "does" something if it on the eve of the trading deadline and makes headlines.
-
I see it as trading a player that can help you every day for a player that can help you every 5th day. I know the stats and history of Lester but no matter how great the pitcher....they can always break down in an instant. Will be interesting.

No, the people wave was more lame . I was at the game . idiots started doing the wave while we were hitting after Trout hit the double.
I couldn't believe how bad the crowd was around me . A lot of fat women with tattoos . Most were not even watching the game . They were just yapping and taking selfies .
What a waste of a night .
Light wave > People wave but no wave is best of all.
Funny, I was thinking the same thing about all the fat men with tattoos.

Say what you will about KRod and his baggage, whatever he could bring at this point in his career would be an improvement over what we have now. Of course, Frieri should have never re-taken his closer position...it's not like he delivered on the field to deserve getting it back.
-
It is scary enough to see Frieri start the 9th inning in a save situation. With the bases loaded?? I'm sure everyone in that ballpark was thinking the exact same thing.
-
This is also disheartening for the players to be losing games they should be winning because of the bullpen and bullpen management. They can never score enough runs. This game was completely served up on a silver platter for the Indians.

This is tough for me. I grew up a long-suffering Kings fan of course, then the Ducks were born. I supported the Ducks because they're my home team but I can't just start hating the Kings. Now I have to choose one over the other to root for. After this series I'll root for whichever team moves on but for now, it's...
GO KINGS GO
I think a lot of us are in the same boat that live in OC. But GO DUCKS GO! You really can't go back again once you have made that change.
Everyone thinks the Kings have the momentum because of their historic win but the Ducks had their share of drama getting to this point as well.

Kershaw, Greinke, Tanaka. They are not going to lose a single game in the playoffs.
You mean like last year?
- Chuck and Vladdylonglegs

Wasn't Ortiz already caught before?
-
Really sad to see him go. Those pitchers better be worth it. Damn, that is a lot of production to lose. Plus who else are we losing that has yet to be named? I hate trades....we suck at them for the most part.
-
I hate the thought of a trade. It is a bare bones team at this point. Would only create another weakness.
-
Wish him well...seems like a classy guy. Scary level of starting pitching depth....something better be brewing.

2002 RP > SP: Not typical way to championship but got the job done.

Exactly! If he takes several innings off a couple of the "bullpen" games, that is HUGE.
