  1. Exactly. Hard to pin this on Trout. Not sure why anyone even made it an issue
  2. Some would say this is a Completely irrelevant stat. Doubtful that Very few, if any, teams that focus on winning care about this
  3. At least your no longer criticizing managers anymore.
  4. Maybe they are "on paper" right now, but who have they beat so far this year?
  5. What does that have to do with anything? They were both at least Tier 2 teams last year.
  6. I said they were (at the time 3-2) were a Tier2/3 team.. They most likely will play themselves to a solid Tier 2 team by the first 20-22 games, which is when the Tiers officially get posted. The Tier placements are independent of previous years.
  7. Tier 1 and Tier 2 make the playoffs. Tier 3 is .500 +/- 3-5 games Tier 4 is @ 70 -76 win team Tier 5 is a Tier 4 team trending down Tier 6 is Under 70 wins.
  8. Maybe someone should go back and scrutinize Dimaggio's 56 game streak. I'll bet the fawning NY sportswriters and scorers threw at least a couple bones
  9. What happened to the guy on the couch? Has he been retired? Or only comes out vs. wins over Tier 1 and 2 teams?
  10. Possibly. Personally, I would put the O's in Tier 2, As of now the Orioles record is 3-2. If they win their current series it would solidify Tier 2 for now. Yankees are 5-0 (Tier 1) and Dodgers are 5-2 (Tier 1). Circle back to me after we are 20 games in. Things are still very fluid.
  11. Not at all. The Orioles are a Tier 2/3 team. Angels were not competitive in the first 2 games or the series really. The Marlins are a (0-5) Tier 6 team. The Halos are somewhere in the middle at this time (Tier 4-5). We just don't know a whole lot, but are trying find data points to get it figured out. *Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams make the playoffs. *Tier 3 is .500 +/- 5 games. *Tier 4 is a under .500 Tier 3 team which is trending down *Tier 5 is a 70-75 win team. Will rarely take a series vs a Tier 1-2 team *Tier 6 is non competitive. Basically a AAA team. Tier 1-3 should never lose a series to a Tier 6 team Initial Tier placements will be out after 22 games.
  12. Game 5 Starting Pitching - A (finally got a starter to go at least 6, which is a key success factor against Tier 1-2 teams) . Marlins are Tier 6 tho. Defense - A (Rendon and Neto with defensive gems). No errors finally. Offense - B (Hicks comes to life with 2 hits incl HR) Bullpen- B Moore was good. Garcia shaky Hustle - B+ Fundamentals- B+ Coaching decisions - A (Once again everything worked out) Notes: Finally more SB(1) than errors (0). Also 2nd concecutive game with a SB and it was Trout.
  13. 3 in a Row but can't afford to get cocky beating up on the Marlins. The Halos looked like a Tier 4 team in Baltimore. Marlins are Tier 6
  14. We were well over .500 in HS.
  15. Game 4 Grades Starting Pitching - D Defense - C* Offense- B** Bullpen- A Hustle - A Fundamentals- B Coaching decisions - A Notes: Another error, but 2 SB by Adell is a positive development. Adell is earning a starting position. 2nd consecutive "A" for Wash. * another error ** leaving too many runners stranded. Game 5. Notes: Blowout win. Sandoval goes 5.2. Rendon on bench
  16. Best game so far with 5+ success metrics achieved. On pace through 4 Main concern is starting pitching putting too much pressure on the BP.
  17. At least Ohtani's accountant can claim the 4.5 mil as gambling losses.
  18. GAME 3 Update Starting Pitching- A Defense - B- Offense - B Bullpen -A+ Hustle - B Fundamentals - B- Coaching decisions - A Notes: Solid pitching in all 3 phases. Attacked the zone. Soriano is a pleasant surprise. Let's enjoy this one.
