  1. Once you get used to them, roundabouts become much more efficient than stoplights or stop signs. There's nothing I hate more while driving than to be driving up to a signal as it turns red and having to sit there waiting for it to turn green while absolutely no cars cross the intersection at all. At that point, there's zero efficiency and the entire line of traffic is just spewing toxic fumes into the air for no good reason.
  2. No, it's not Arte. If Arte wanted the ballpark to have wifi he couldn't get it done. Wifi is a long and arduous process that involves tearing up vast amounts of infrastructure and essentially requires a rebuild of the entire stadium. It's not like they could set up a couple of towers in the outfield or anything. It's just too complicated to do without millions of dollars of investment and a few years design. (By the way, where's the sarcasm thingy for this site?)
  3. If that ballpark gets built next to the Red Rock (which it looks like it might) it's going to set back the learning curve all over again with the one just east of the Casino. Adding alcohol, college students, parents with children hopped up on cotton candy, and it being late at night to the equation can not be good for the mix.
  4. When I was up there a couple of years ago, I took the lightrail everywhere. It is really designed well. I did not get the garlic fries. I like garlic, don't get me wrong, but that just seemed excessive to me. Not sure if you're interested, but my buddy and I ended up across the street at the Pyramid Brewery for the pre-game, which seemed like a popular option. The one thing that amazed me about the feel of Safeco is how intimate it felt. It really like nearly all of seats in the ballpark are sitting almost on top of the grass, as opposed to most ballparks I've gone to where unless you're in the first few rows, it feels like you're miles away. Most importantly, though, have a great time!
  5. Guys, don't be asking for WiFi, be asking for FREE WiFi. Otherwise it'll be like $10 a game or $250 for the season.
  6. The frightening thing for me when I dive into my closet is that I will pull something off the hanger and wear it, not thinking anything of it and will end up with comments of "Wow, that is so vintage!" I'm not quite sure what to wear, but it will be Angels related, and it will probably be vintage.
  7. I lived in Montana for 3 years. Sadly that last post is a case of truth being funnier than comedy.
  8. Actually, now that most of the games are on FS, we only get the Sundays blacked out, for the most part. Monday should be fine.
  9. And yet teams that hire PED users still get to benefit from the wins and get a discount on the salaries when they are suspended.
  10. The Dodgers own Los Angeles. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Angels fan through and through, but denying this is sticking your head in the sand. It was only a matter of time for the Dodgers to right the ship and have their fans return in droves. For the past several years the Angels benefited from the Dodgers ineptitude. But that's no longer. The Angels really need to step it up for a few seasons consecutively (or win a World Series) for the tables to turn again. Until then, the Angels are back to second fiddle in Southern California again.
  11. Just as a reminder, the address is Aces and Ales 2801 N Tenaya Way Las Vegas, NV 89128 Gametime is 7:05PM Should be a good time!
  12. You're right. The quality of the gas has nothing to do with the popularity of a brand. It wouldn't influence rankings on this list at all.
  13. Ever eat Oysters? Yeah, they tend to still be alive when you slurp them up.
  14. A couple of months ago I was covering one of the Bellagio High Rollers and every player at the table was ordering this Pellegrino water (not Pellegrino, but some high end version of it). Since it was free (with a waitress tip) I decided to try it. Was not impressed. It tasted like the aforementioned Penn n Teller garden hose water to me. What surprised me was that people pay high dollar for it. Made no sense to me at all.
  15. Saw this one on Epic Homes. I think it cost less than $20k.
  16. Chevron exclusively. I've tried other gas & always end up getting less milage per dollar. But more importantly than that, my cars always end up way under performing with other brands. Also, whenever I head to California I try to get just enough gas as absolutely necessary and run the tank dry when I leave. All the crap that California forces into the gas produces one of the worst mile per dollar ratio anywhere. Speaking of miles per dollar for gas prices and CO2 emissions, if California really wanted to do something about lowering smog, they ought to do something about syncing up their traffic signals. It doesn't matter where I drive in California, I spend half the trip sitting at red lights, burning gas while going nowhere. Just think of how much gas and smog could be saved if the time sitting at red lights was just cut down by 10% simply by adjusting the signals?
  17. The manager calling him out to the press during their first homestand? Yeah, the douche is strong with this one.
  18. With all the new rules being handed down on this message board, please, for the love of all things holy, can we have a rule that says when linking an article, you MUST include the author's name? Not "Orange County Register: And Furthermore... another Arte snub" but "TJ Simers: And Furthermore... another Arte snub". It's the same amount of work (less even) and much more informative about the subject.
  19. Blanton is a warm body that can eat up innings, albeit not very effectively. But at this point with the Angels, Blanton is their best option based on how they spent their off-season. I don't see Blanton going anywhere at least through his first 5 starts with the club, and probably longer, depending on how other pitchers do. I would even say he'll be moved to the bullpen before he gets outrighted, despite his protestations. Last game, no. Last start? Possibly.
  20. Looking forward to meeting you and the wife, HaloFromVegas. DerekGMZ is tentative at this point due to potential work schedule. Here's hoping for an opening day win!
