Meh, Ohtani didn't get to pitch during spring training, and I don't know how much he got to pitch during summer camp, I won't start to panic until he has "forearm tightness"

This.  I’m not sure why anyone had such high expectations today.  What in the past few weeks would make you think that?  He did not look good in summer.  But give him time.  Dude is coming back from TJ.  I’ll judge him around game 4 or 5.

  2. If i were them, i'd like to see what he looks like outside of Fenway, in the NL, etc.  before giving him a Trout-like contract.  Of course, CV happened and now they need to act before he's a FA.  They have the money to burn.  They also have the future payroll flexibility too with all the young studs on cheap contracts (& more coming).

Still a few years away, but dang those contracts to Bellinger / Buelher (health permitted) are going to be HUGE.

Moreover, you've brought fresh thoughts and good discussion to this topic as well.

    Welcome (again...)

This kind of sounds like "Hey someone agrees with my opinion, so it's fresh thoughts and good discussion".  LOL.  I'm probably wrong.....but that's just how it sounded to me.  So i thought it was funny.  Likely you didn't mean it that way though.  BTW, i'm neither Republican or Democrat (more a Libertarian than anything else -- so i disagree with 99% of the political party systems/people here in the U.S.).

  4. This thread is basically the first i heard about any comments about kneeling last night, political responses, name calling, etc.  You see, care and react how you want to based on your own preconceived notions.   Then again, i'm not on twitter -- so maybe that's why.  Personally, it doesn't bother me either way.  It's America -- land of the free (for the good or bad).  That's what makes the Nation great....always has.  I just don't understand why people continue to waste their precious time & energy getting all riled up either way.   Chill out and enjoy the short time we have.

  5. Beginning of season is always the best -- hopeful and optimistic.  If healthy....we can do great things.  My heart says we could hit 33+ wins if all goes well and we make the playoffs.  Once there, anything can happen.

But reality is, we don't have much depth and we're relying upon several guys to stay healthy and/or have bounce back years.  Our SP especially is held together by tape.  You can't objectively look at our SP right now and be very confident.  With Trout gone for 5-7+ days, the uncertainty with our SP, limited depth, etc. -- i see about 24 wins.  The good news with that is we'd get another good draft pick next year 🙃
