  1. The only thing that has to happen, is for all of us to vote Bernie Sanders for President. As for the Angels, we MUST/ have to trade for Manny Machado. We don't need our heads in the clouds for change and improvement to occur in either case. I say we get creative though and eventually sign Dexter Fowler. I like too think that if he didn't have a draft pick attached, we would have already signed him. The Front Office has done an excellent job of working within a budget and has covered major needs for this team. Escobar and Fowler alone would change the entire landscape of the offense, just by batting in front of Trout IMO. We've gone through our own trials and tribulations but If we still let money hold us back, its gonna be another long YEAR! I think we're creative enough too fix the Pen, the Bench and the Farm, from what we Currently already have from within our Organization. What we don't have is a consistent LF/OF. We want someone we don't have to worry about, someone who is going too let us finally focus on more pressing needs like The Farm System and being able too locking up our current talent. 1-9 doesn't have too be comprised of an all-star team, just teammates doing doing their job and not letting outside forces dictate what They/You do.  I'm just saying this Team/Fan base doesn't demand another League Superstar but we also don't deserve a bunch of replaceable journeyman.

    I like cocaine too

  2. IF he put up that line, i would agree, but based on the three year splits of both players away from Coors you arent.

Dickerson away from Coors line is far less than that at 249/286/410/696 with less than half the HR as he had at home and fewer 2B/3B as well so...

Blackmon isnt much better at 24//291/386/677 though his power was closer to eveni money on the road in terms of HR but 2B/3B far less and even SB lower. Last year was a little better than the averages in that area putting up a 238/300/395/695 line His K/BB ratio is not good at near 2.5/3-1 ... for a leadoff guy thats not great.

So, assuming you are going to get that line is very much wishful thinking. IF we got that then fine, i would agree, but i think your projections are optimistic when you take out the Coors factor

Plus... he might be #6 for 2016 but in 2017 its more like giving up your 3-4 so that has to be taken into account.

Fair enough. I just think Coors hurts your away numbers as much as it inflates your home numbers.

  3.

Blackmon's career line outside of Coors is pretty bad.  .241/.283/.370/.653 in 236 games, 878 plate appearances ... rather large sample.

Moving to the AL and out of Coors Field .... I would expect his numbers to be even worse.

Trading away starting pitching depth for mediocre players is not something I would advise ... especially since you guys don't really have a super threatening rotation as is. Now imagine if an injury occurs at the top.

Dickerson is the better player / prospect ... Blackmon would likely be a nobody outside of Coors, but even Dickerson outside of Coors leaves a lot to be desired (though its a smaller sample).

Just look at Dickerson's "great" 2014 ... look how much of that is fueled by strong numbers at Coors Field.

Are their numbers so much better at Coors because pitches don't move as much or the balls fly farther?  I don't care about power.  I would like to see a guy who can hit singles, steal his way around and become an RBI for Trout, Pujols, etc.  One who can keep pitchers nervous and throw off their concentration worrying about the guy on first.  A guy who can run fast enough to break up Pujols and Escobar's inevitable GIDP's.  The guy will probably regress a bit at home and get better on the road and then settle into who he is, which appears a hell of a lot better than our other options.

  4. I would actually say a lot of things went right in 2015

Albert, aybar, cron, trout, Calhoun, Richards, Santiago, street, salad, giavotella were healthy (most of the) year

Heaney broke out, Santiago had a great year, trout was trout, Albert and cron produced, second base wasn't a total disaster, the rotation was solid, bullpen did their job.

    85 wins

FIFY, but the rest seems right.

  5. would either be an upgrade worthy of losing more parts?  thats the real question.  in my mind the answer is no, they dont bring enough  to the table over what we already have on paper.

A leadoff LF who plays 150+ games for us who hits .275-ish and gets on base over .300 and steals 43 bases for a probable #6 starter in our rotation?  Yes.  And twice on Sunday.

  6. What went wrong is just a lot of weird shit throughout the season. Hamilton fiasco, Dipoto resigning, Joyce being awful, Iannetta being awful, CJ being injured, Trout being injured or whatever caused his August swoon, Freese's injury. When Freese returned we started winning again. I agree with you that we didn't have the depth to survive injuries. This was a team that played poorly and we were one game out of the playoffs.

This..  And poor base coaching/running,  the Victorino/DeJesus/Navarro/Joyce/Cowgill/Robertson Left Field, Pujols only playing 95 games at 1st, Featherston as Util IF.

Everything has been addressed except that LF platoon which seems sort of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" to me.

  7. The angels biggest need is obp. Blackman and dickerson don't provide that.

We have enough HR threats right now.

Cron, Pujols, Calhoun and trout should all hit 20+ this year.

The lineup is riddled with question marks when it comes to obp.

So his .347 OBP, which is higher than the following outfielders doesn't provide that?  OK

20 J.D. 8. Oh I know. While Blackmon isn't my first choice, if we could get him for a Santiago or Shoemaker, I'm down! He'd be like getting Ben Revere with a better arm, more power.

The more I read and review old game video on Tropeano the more I want to keep him. 92-95 MPH fastball, great change & breaking ball, excellent command, good pitchers body.

    What's not to like?

I'll probably like Skaggs too, but at this point I want a legit LF for the next few years.  Especially one with wheels now that we have moved the human windmill to 1st base.

  9. I asked Fletcher about it and he said the Angels don't like Blackmon's numbers away from Coors; therefore they may not be interested.

That's disappointing.  After a quick look, he's pretty strong against AL teams over the last year or so and he lights up the Dodgers and Giants.

  10. They could also finish 1st. We were very close last season with ZERO production from LF, nearly nothing at C since Iannetta was getting the majority of the starts for the majority of the season & getting ZERO production from Trout & Pujols for 5 weeks over the summer.

The one thing that has improved and should improve mightily from last year till this season is our SS defense, leadoff hitters before Trout/Pujols/Calhoun/Cron & DEPTH DEPTH DEPTH on both offense and defense.

Zero production from Freese and Gia for a long stretch as well.  Freese's return last year was a catalyst.  I think Escobar will be even better as will Gia.
