  6. Yep - there's a flaw in the system for sure - me! I only have the time and the skill set to measure one aspect of the game - offense. Could use some help if anyone wants to volunteer. Weaver's performance last night was even more significant in light of his struggles so far this year. I'm actually having a normal person's night out tonight so hopefully AngelsWin and I'll get around to scoring it tomorrow. Have a good night all ... and I'll leave you with this pic of John Lackey being a key contributor in a Cards-Cubs game the other day ... pretty amazing. - see STL-May-2015. Also - I put some autographed pics in another area of the site too - Bourjos and Grichuk signed a couple of my Scorecard sheets.
  7. Peter is definitely on the rise over this past week ... generally this happens as soon as I criticize a guy in a forum so let me know if you want me to disrespect a particular Angel or two. I don't remember Bourjos being booed in STL ... I'm sure there were groans on caught stealing/pickoffs or after key failed at bats last year but I'd characterize fan response to Peter as being more "meh" than anything ... once Jon Jay won CF back last year Peter was relegated to spot starter, late inning d-sub, or pinch runner. Local broadcasters said last night that his offseason surgery has been the biggest positive for him this year. I totally agree about his base stealing ... he was caught stealing the other day against the Cubs Lester/Ross battery which is almost an accomplishment. Also agree on aggressive base running being the true best use of his speed.
  8. 5/8/15 - LAA 2-0 Win vs HOU. Officially a tie for offensive Top Contributor, I'm awarding it to Freese and giving a much deserved Honorable Mention to Jared Weaver for his complete game shutout. Full Scorecard of Game 30 is posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015
  9. Full Scorecard of Game 29 is posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015
  10. Blatant tease ... guess who SEA @ LAA Series Top Contributor was ... Usual pages on the site: Front-Page-Left-Sidebar - OR - LAA-MAY-2015
  11. LAA top guys: Trout, Giavotella, Calhoun ... SEA had the game's top contributor in SEA loss. Full Scorecard of Game 28 is posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015 Big W Pic below
  12. Congrats on the 5-4 Win! Officially Albert's the Top Contributor ... but you can't really top a walk-off home run in a guy's MLB debut, right? Full Scorecard of Game 27 is posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015 Big W Pic below
  13. My perspective is from a distance ... but whose team is this really? What I see are some players thrown into the mix by the owner (Pujols & the now Texas Ranger Josh Hamilton), some elements here and there by the GM, and who knows what pieces might belong to the Manager but in the end he (presumably) fills out the lineup card and puts guys "in position to succeed". Decisions seem to be made based on the latest shiny object and not from a coherent approach with buy-in from all parties - Owner, Front Office, Manager and everyone in between. To me this team in its current incarnation is a too many cooks in the kitchen stew that they all messed with too much and now they can't undo what's in the pot (so to speak). A lineup is so very much more than the sum of its parts and the successful recipe they had last year is gone. (also ... I wonder if they would've traded Kendrick if they had any inclination Hamilton was going to relapse?)
  14. Tough loss in Shoemaker start. All runs via the homer. Full Scorecard of Game 26 posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015
  15. I want to be diplomatic about this because I really like Peter Bourjos and enjoy watching him. He had the starting CF job to lose last year and he did - or you could say Jon Jay won it back - or both. But last year Peter could not produce at the plate. He has very recently received more playing time and the broadcasters talk as if he's working on making changes to his approach etc. The fact is that David Freese was a big part of LAA success in 2014 and will likely be impactful this year too. Peter was of minimal impact for STL last year and will likely be a bit more impactful this year but I suspect it's because he's now recognizing his role and probably embracing it ... just my opinion. I just posted in my Scorecards and Summaries thread the pics and links - so if anyone is feeling like LAA "lost" the Freese-Bourjos trade - I recommend you take a look. Again - not meaing to disparage Peter and hope he stays a Cardinal and/or has a solid career but contributions-wise ... Freese-Bourjos aren't even close.
  16. It's summary time and a whole bunch of stuff is posted to the site - I recommend going to the LAA-May-2015 page or the Metrics page LAA 2015 - 25 games LAA 2014 - 25 games I have the same pages for STL - 2015 24 Games & 2014 24 games.
  17. Full Scorecard of Game 25 posted in usual places (May page created): 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015 I'll post the weekly summaries tomorrow Scorecard pic below
  18. Full Scorecard of Game 24 and summaries posted in usual places (May page created): 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015 Crawford was the game's Top Contributor - Trout of course for LAA. I'll have updated summaries posted after tomorrow's game ... I'm sure not a surprise to anyone but the distance between Trout and the next highest contributor is huge.
  19. Full Scorecard of Game 23 and summaries posted in usual places (May page created): 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-MAY-2015 pic below
  20. 04/30/15 -LAA 6-5 win @ OAK. Since Trout's catch saved the game I guess we'll have to factor that in and call him today's star ... but offensively Calhoun did edge out Trout/Aybar for LAA Top Contributor in Win. Also - Oakland's Canha was the game's Top Contributor. Posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-Apr2015 Big W Pic below ...
  21. Full Scorecard of Game 21 Win @ OAK posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-Apr2015 Forgot to save the pic as bigger image - I've been really short on time - so please hit the site if you want to get the better view. Only had time to do LAA side of Game 20 - that's posted too:

  23. I have to start this post with a note to anyone who has been reviewing my work: Last night I discovered some significant Gameday mistakes as I happened to be monitoring the Gameday live feed at the same time I was watching the Cardinals local TV broadcast. I'm not talking minor things (which I've seen in the past) like a fly ball to CF really being to RF but significant mistakes in the Cardinals 1/2 of the 7th ... batters were off by one and at least one play - a strikeout - never occurred at all. I mention this here because I rely heavily on the live Gameday feed for almost all the Angels games that I score so it was disconcerting to see how very wrong the live feed can be. In defense of the Stats Stringers I will say that there are times it must be a difficult job because, as us die-hard fans know, the game can appear slow but really move quite fast at times ... so I am sympathetic. Regardless it now has me re-thinking my approach to Angels games that I can't watch (which is most of them). I think for awhile I will be posting LAA game scorecards the next morning as the final play-by-play seems to be accurate - certainly by comparison to the live feed. Thanks for reading the lengthy bit above and for visiting the 4BaseScore.com site - and now back to the good stuff ... Full Scorecard and summaries posted in usual places: 4BaseScore-FrontPage-LeftSidebar or 4BaseScore-LAA-Apr2015 Here's the big W pic: p.s. - I'll be posting updated summaries later tonight or tomorrow a.m. and I have a cool view of how the 2 teams I'm tracking (STL & LAA) stack up - player to player and team to team.
