I know it’s a paywall but some interesting points including a suggestion from more than one MLB exec that the trade deadline should be moved back a week or so, but that would have to be renegotiated as the current collective bargaining agreement calls for it to be between 7/28 and 8/3. Here’s part of the Angel’s coverage: FROM AN AL EXEC: “I play poker. And when you play poker, obviously you’re calculating a lot of odds — your hand, your hand relative to the pot, all that kind of stuff. And they didn’t have good pot odds at all. So it was time to fold. But they kind of pushed in. I think that lowers their chips for the next hand, which is next year. And they were in a position where they could have really turned around that franchise.”
