Roster Resource projects the club for a payroll of $172MM in 2024, more than $40MM below the figure they posted last year. So figure we have about 35-45 mill left to spend depending on how close Arte wants to get to last years payroll… how do we spend those last dollars?

Would it be irresponsible to pick up another lefty that can pitch high leverage innings to further bolster this pen? Whether it be trade or FA I think it would be smart to pick up another lefty to go with Moore so he doesn’t get overworked as he tended to be last year with us in the first half of the year. Maybe Peralta for 6-7mill (Peralta had a 2.15 era in innings 7-9 last year)

I think step one would be for Perry to look at Rendons roster spot as a 0, and try to have a replacement ready for his eventual injury/release by mid season (one can dream) Sign Bellinger, Turner, Moose, Peralta or Moore and then try to find a trade for a top end SP… doesn’t even need to be an ACE per se but needs to be a guy they can rely on to eat innings at a sub 3-3.5 era level until the ASB, where if we are in contention then sure try to find a trade for an ACE.

With Artes history to pay for bats and not go the extra mile for pitchers I would not be surprised if two weeks from now Bellinger is an Angel. Not saying that’s the right or wrong move because I really don’t want to give Snell a 5-6 year deal but it’s just something I can see Arte approving. If that were to be the case and assuming we only have about $50million or so left to work with in payroll Perry would have his work cut out for him to improve the rotation. Would most likely have to come from a trade… 2B-Rengifo 1B-Schanuel LF-Trout CF-Bellinger DH-Drury Would be a fun start to a lineup…
