Why is everyone dogging on Aybar there? He hit that thing hard, put it in play like he's supposed to, he just happened to hit it right at someone. If anything, that's all on Pujols for being too far off the bag.
we were dogging on scioscia.
-
Scioscia probably thinks Aybar squared up that ball.
or he's probably thinking tip your cap to the ss, he made a great play.
-
scioscia's lineup card is always good for a huge laugh.
-
aybar really hitting 5th?
-
Seattle batting .224 with a .280 OBP entering tonight's game.
Only Houston is worse in the AL.
really? they looked like the '27 yankees against us.
-
U forgot ervin santana, jordan walden, and tyler chatwood.
but pitchers leaving here and doing much better doesn't surprise me. butcher and iannetta area detriment to the pitching staff.
hopefully the new gm shakes things up starting by getting rid of dipoto's love child iannetta.

wow smyly sucks, a hr to kendrick? hang your head in shame!
-
it would be beneficial if scioscia stops putting him in the clean up spot.
-
i saw josh wall in spring, he looked pretty good. that being said if he doesnt have success in the minors why do the angels bring him up anyways as if he's supposed to improve in the major leagues?
-
i wish they could rebuild like the red sox did, but that isn't going to happen. if they could dump pujols' contract and trade aybar, kendrick, ibanez, freese, hamilton for appropriate value, then i'd be all for it.
yankees would be a perfect fit. they could afford those contracts and they could use pujols since texiera looks done, and they also need a 2b and SS.

scioscia gets crap for bullpen management because he brings in salas and jepsen in high leverage situations. his bullpen management has already cost the team 3 wins in 13 games.

After 5< IP they're ready???
u gotta risk it when the alternative is salas or frieri.

Melvin knows how to use the players he has in the best ways to win ballgames.
Scioscia has memorized an inning by inning set formula that he is unable to deviate from.
The results of the two approaches have been pretty obvious for a few seasons now, this is neither new nor startling.
Melvin owns Scioscia, both in close ballgames and in the season standings.
Watch them both manage for a while, and the differences in their approach to the game become more and more obvious.
this is so dead on. melvin knows exactly who scioscia is warming up, he knows who hes gonna bring in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings, who he is gonna pinch hit for, and he can plan his game according to what scioscia has done the last several years.
opposing managers pretty much know what scioscia is gonna do next, he never deviates from his set formula and it gives opposing managers a huge advantage in late game strategy.

what home said. howie is still here because no one wants him. the only people who think he is good are angel fans who badly overrate him.
we couldnt even get a 5th starter for him last year, seriously wake up people.

I doubt they will give up on Freese after everything they gave up to get him
this is true unfortunately. but if you look at the a's, they traded for jim johnson and his 10m salary and they already booted him from the closers role after only 10 games.
the a's realize every game is important, and they are not gonna let johnson continue to hurt the team until he figures it out. i dont get that vibe from the angels.

id go with stewart. he puts up good ab's, works the count, he showed he has opposite field power yesterday as well which is a very good sign. who cares if he k's a lot? many power hitters do.
his swing is a bit too long, but i think he can work on that over the season. he has way more potential than freese and better defense too. im very glad he made the team because i dont trust freese and stewart was my sleeper pick to comeback this year.
-
Cowgill's the only reason this game is this close. And he takes him out? WTF?
that's scioscia's way of rewarding players.
-
Gotta be deliberate sabotage. I am convinced of it. There is no way anyone can be that stupid.
i think so too, i dont know how you can use the same bad reliever in high leverage situations and expect a good result even though he fails time and time again.
-
did the angels bother scouting salas before trading for him?
does this team even have a scouting department?
-
please no more starts vs lefties for ibanez.
-
What the hell is with Weaver pouting. It was his crappy pitching that set up this mess
weaver probably wants to decide if he wins or loses the game not a bum like salas.
-
salas likes to forget a runner exists at first base as well.

how many more games do we give freese till he earns an official spot on the bench?
