  1. guess I'm in the minority -  I can't stand Aybar.  Zero plate discipline or pitch recognition, never takes a walk, horrible baserunner considering his speed, and a penchant for making defensive errors on routine plays in key situations.  Also, his face.  What am I missing?

you're in the minority on this board, but many people on other boards feel the same way.  aybar and kendrick have talent, but they are too dumb to ever reach their full potential.

  2. haha this is a weirdly violent thread (and board, recently) for a team that is now actively approaching 1st in the west for the first time in...a long, long time. especially with the a's stumbling a bit.

    side note, TROUT!!!

ya this is a gameday thread and the team is playing well, but some people would rather just attack other people on the board.

  3. There is no such thing as a set lineup anymore in baseball.  There are too many injuries and players not at 100%, too many reasons to miss games.

scioscia doesnt set the lineup based on injuries.  he has one hitter on the DL - hamilton.  the others get to start based on whether a lefty or right pitcher is starting...it's idiotic.

i want to see if conger can play everyday before we declare him a platoon player.  sciosca hasnt even bothered to find out if he can hit lefties.  i like the way conger handles the pitching staff compared to iannetta, and his bat is much better as well.  it would be more beneficial to the team if conger plays everyday instead.

calhoun loses his starting job just because he's a lefty or because he got hurt?  i have no idea because scioscia never does anything that makes sense.  calhoun played great last year, but it wasnt even enough to give him a starting job this year.  what do u gotta do to play everyday if you're a lefthander?  hit like ted williams right out of the gate or what?  this is getting ridiculous.

  4. Yea **** Green that guy sucks!

    /sarcasm

Two things are for certain in this world, Scioscia plays a lot of guys, and people will bitch about it regardless of how the team plays. Angels win 10 of 13, with different line ups. Ignore the results and bitch about the line ups. The other night people complained about Howie (.388 OBP) and Aybar batting 1-2. Yet they had two of the five hits and one of the two RBI.

i said for scioscia to pick a leadoff hitter and stick with it - no one complained about howie hitting 1st, u conjured that up.  i complained about aybar and yes he got a whopping one rbi, so what?  you think its a good idea to keep him in the two spot?  it's baseball - any stupid move could end up working once in a while, that doesnt mean it's the right or smart thing to do.

u obviously missed the point about these lineup cards.  it's hard to keep hitting and keep producing if u only play once or twice a week.  it doesnt make sense for guys who had big games to get sat the next day because a lefty is starting (conger), and even though aybar got a whopping one rbi yesterday that doesnt mean it's a good idea to keep him there.  over the course of a long season (not one at bat like you claim) it makes a difference.

  5. Scioscia implies he values the 2 hole by keeping his best hitter there (which agrees with advanced metrics, probably by accident), but then you give that guy a day off and replace him with... Erick Aybar.  He's the best angelswin troll and doesn't even know it.

im honestly just sick of him playing roulette with the lineup.  pick a god damn lead off hitter already and stick with it.  pick an everyday lineup already and stick with it.

and why would you want a .260 hitting aybar at the top of the lineup where he would get more ab's than someone like cowgill? navarro? or calhoun?  it blows my mind because it's just a common sense thing that any manager should possess.  i cant take this shit anymore.
