  1. field decisions are not made by Dipoto including the lineup
  2. yes it is a small sample, but it is also the only sample we have as a sandwich between Trout and Pujols. He has shown us that he can do well there so let him go and see what he can sustain. And as I stated before, Callaspo took a couple steps back last year at the plate. If he gets it together I wouldn't mind him hitting there to see how he does. Ultimately, I really don't think it matters much at all and I think fears of Aybar killing the top of the order production are unfounded.
  3. yes but most recently, he has excelled there, something Callaspo has never shown.
  4. the point of looking at the splits is because some players tend to perform better in certain spots in the order. Callaspo has never really performed well in that slot. It's a part of the picture.
  5. the thing is, it hasn't played out that way so far. And I'm not convinced Callaspo will hit .280 .360 ever out of the 2 slot. he has never really hit that well there.
  6. and by the way, I am still of the mind that the batting order is not a big factor in the end.
  7. i dont. I think he will hit better, as he has historically, in the lower half of the order. Aybar was outstanding hitting between Trout and Pujols last year and I think he can continue that at least enough to be a valuable piece there. Callaspo took a couple steps back last year and I am not convinced that will change If he gets back on track, fine give him a shot there.
  8. he hit rather well behind Trout and ahead of Pujols last yesr
  9. and yet last year especially he was stellar out of the 2 hole
  10. no one pressed the issue with him perhaps. it's not unique to MLB though it applies to any person's likeness being sold for commercial use. Simply put, other than editorial use, using someone's image for profit of any kind requires a release or agreement. It's possible FA obtained the necessary releases to use the images for those specific uses.
  11. loI I'm quite familiar with the difference. the right of due process is not specific to citizens. Thanks for the condescending reply though.
  12. that's not accurate wicked. Images of people require a release or agreememt to be sold commercially. Commercial use is basically prints or photo products sold for use other than editorial use, which would include prints to be hung on your wall and/or used for autographs by someone other than the photographer. The trademark issue comes into play with the uniforms' and hats' logos. Again, editorial use is fine, commercial use without a release or agreememt is not.
  13. you need to be careful selling images of players for print (which would be classified as commercial use).
  14. due process is not a uniquely afforded right of a citizen
  15. Re your scenario, WAR does not say that. That's a misapplicatiion of the stat IMO. The purpose is to calculate the value a player had (based on production) to his team in a particular year. This is based on opportunities and results. Moving a player to another team changes both opportunities and results. IOW, a player may actually rate higher with a different team because he has more opportunities. This is also why WAR values will vary some year over year.
  16. Except no one is suggesting this kind of thing should be done.
  17. They would continue to be dealt with through law enforcement like they are now. Drones are a military weapon and would only be used when military action was called for, legal and justified like any other military action on American soil would require. And yes, drones could target domestic terrorist with minimal collateral damage - less then say a full on military invasion or an aerial assault, but again, this is only an extreme circumstance - one of which we have not had at any point and probably never will. I asked this before and didn't get much of a response, are there any circumstances where the US could use lethal military action on US soil in a legal and justified cause?
  18. stats are good when understood and used appropriately. stats are worthless when misused. and no stats should be used in a vacuum, including the new sabermetric stats.
  19. I was speakimg of the "above replacememt" numbers.
