Or I guess they go with Enright. That's not being creative. That's ridiculously uncreative and it starts a weekend series with the possibility of overworking our pen. Jeebus.
They should be calling up another mop-up guy while Hanson is on the bereavement list...unless they call up Romine for defense.
-
Well, my suggestion was in line with all the other ridiculous suggestions in this thread.
The Enright suggestion might have been ridiculous, but it also has turned out to be true.
-
The link below has a video clip of both TV and radio broadcasts during the madness. http://nesn.com/2013/05/umpires-for-angels-astros-dont-know-mlb-rule-allow-consecutive-pitching-changes-video/
-
I was kind of hoping we'd lose just so that MLB would be forced to uphold a protest and throw the umpires under the bus.
-
Wasn't Trumbo originally a pitching prospect?
Throw him out there and play without a DH
Really? Throw out your star hitter on the mound and risk injury?
-
Iannetta can't throw either.
-
I bet Terry is thrilled that Angel Talk is pre-empted by Ducks Hockey tomorrow. Mark had it right, pretty much the whole team has issues.
-
I like the caller who said Hester was a good defensive catcher. What?
Also, Bobby Wilson was apparently signed by the Yankees in December, yet he has not even made any major league appearances.
-
Time to trade Conger for BP help. Atrocious. I'd rather have Mathis back.
Do you think Conger has any trade value right now?
-
Is Enright still on the 25 man roster?
-
Did he actaully say this or was he paraphrased? It certainly wasn't in the portion aired on 830 or FSW.

Richards has a tough game in his last start and people wanted to see Jerome.
Jerome had a tough start and now people want to see Richards.
I have a feeling this will be a continuous cycle.
Richards numbers as a starter aren't good. Last year he was 3-2, 4.42 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. His 2013 starts so far are 2-2, 5.54 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. It is encouraging to see his K/BB ratio improve thus improving his WHIP.
That being said the same can be said for Jerome. But I would give Jerome another start. Richards' first start this year was similar to Jerome's, and he bounced back with a solid performance. Regardless, either pitcher is valuable to the team in the pen. It's a tough call to see which will be the better starter though.
I don't remember anyone suggesting Jerome replace Richards. I do remember people suggesting Jerome replace Blanton.

Well, Romine is not even on the roster anymore, so it is apparently Harris's gig.
-
Because Scioscia screwed himself by pinch-hitting for Iannetta and forcing Conger to move from DH to C, thereby losing the DH. So, of course, Scioscia double-switches BEFORE he has to replace Frieri so we get Brendan Harris to play second...who was still pinch hit for, anyway.
Harris botched that double play ball too.
-
Starting 3rd game in a row. Iannetta hurt?
-
During the game, Gubicza was actually blaming Conger being a "young catcher" for the poor start.
-
Barry Enright survives? Thought for sure he was going down after he started the 8th.
-
Also, I think Harris might get the starts at 3B until Callaspo is ready. Jiminez hasn't done much offensively for a while.
-
You'd just have to do double switches to avoid pitchers batting like an NL game.
Ther'es no possibile double switch you could do to avoid pitchers batting if your backup catcher is your starting DH.
-
I couldn't even see where it landed. I replayed it so many times.
-
A pitcher who could spot cover an OF spot would be a great asset for doing weird lefty-righty matchups via double switch.
Like this game?

3-for-3 so far against the Dodgers tonight, just hit a ball up the middle for 2 bases loaded RBI's.
Career avg w/ RISP .500 going into tonight.
Too bad we couldn't get him to learn Right Field.

Silence would be better than Buttercup.

I enjoyed the podcast, but there is a theme that has been recurring across the local radio lately and was again noted on the podcast. I really question how much things like "fire" and "passion' really make a difference at the major league level. If this team was WINNING and not showing any emotion, nobody would be second guessing that at all. If the team was producing, nobody would even care. I don't think anybody wants to fail under the national spotlight. I don't know if throwing stuff around is the right attitude to take. If you had a regular job, you'd be asked to take anger management training.
I don't think the fact that this group of guys is less outspoken necessarily effects their performance on the field. If you look back at world series champions, or even champions of any sport, you're going to find a mix of all types of personalities. The Cardinals from 2011, they certainly weren't an outspoken bunch. They weren't even a top team throughout most of that season.
I feel like fans are trying hard to look for something to point to to explain why this team is underperforming. Maybe guys are playing hurt again. I don't know what the reason is. You have to think they'll turn it around though.
Alden Gonzalez: MLB reviewing controversial pitching change

Why does AWAdmin credit Alden Gonzales when the article itself credits a Brian McTaggart ?
