I like Gary Di at third, but it sure was cool seeing Trout give Ebel one his fist pounds after that HR.

Fangraphs on Weav. Warning: It's not a fun read.

Someone needs to make that Kershaw dive into a gif!

I've always known that he thinks everything through, but not like this.

Wasn't the shuckinator also posting a 1000 ops in salt lake?
Just sayin
.318/.388/.440/.829
Boesch's .625 SLG is insane, and I assume is the reason why he was called up over Shuck.

HAHA. I loved the part about the noises from the fans when the bullpen guys are warming up in Salt Lake. Every time I've sat down the third base line I've joined in on that. I don't think there's anyone who has sat in that area that hasn't haha.

There are a few unhappy patrons at the Bees game right now.

That's an extremely relevant stat. But the question remains, if it's not the first pitch strikes, what's causing the increase in Ks?
Did you read the fangraphs article? They posed the idea that Trout is pulling the ball a lot more (that is backed up by stats) and that perhaps his role at the plate has changed from being a guy trying to simply get on base, to a guy trying to slug for more power. This has caused a sharp increase in his foul ball rate from years past....
Again, with his strike zone discipline showing only slight variation from 2012 and 2013 I'm really hopeful that his K rate comes back down to earth.

This is the best article I've found on this topic.
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/forcing-a-reason-to-worry-about-mike-trout/
Trouts strike zone, and first pitch strike % for that matter, have not varied very far from his career numbers. So far this year, he's seeing 55.8% first pitch strikes....is that high? Maybe. But his career number is 55.4% and he's still below the league average of 59.8% for 2014. I highly doubt you can attribute his increased K rate to a .4% increase in first pitch strikes.
With his strike zone discipline staying fairly constant to his career numbers, that leaves very strong hope he can turn his K rate around and end up back at his career rate. -
A slump is one thing, but 14Ks in last 37ABs is Trumbo territory. Looking at good pitches early, swinging at bad pitches late. Taking hitting advice from Pujols?
Fangraphs swing rates in and out of the zone for the last 12 games, 2014, and career tell a different story. He's showing a very similar plate discipline that he has his whole career.

With 4 more K's today, he is now tied for most in the AL at 46 with Colby Rasmus

Bees are on a huge skid right now. I thought the early lead in Tacoma would help turn things around, but it seems blowing leads is moving its way down the org

Bourjos wouldn't even be starting if he was here. It was worth the risk in trading for a viable 3B.
Not Dipoto's fault he's sucked out of the gate. You make changes as necessary as a GM, not sit on your hands and wait for something to happen and lose ball games.
I think the issue here is that when the trade happened, there wasn't a lot of support for the idea that Freese was an upgrade over anything in house...and that the Angels traded away some of their arguably best trade bait for someone who isn't going to upgrade the pitching staff... But that may just be my opinion.

I think MLB.tv is having issues with all devices right now.
Yeah I read on MLB.TV's site a week ago their latest update took them by surprise. It's been a lot better the last few days through my AppleTV than it was the first few games of the season.
-
I use my AppleTV when I'm watching at home. I can get HD quality (most of the time at least) on my big screen. My one beef with it is that I can't use any of the DVR capabilities on the AppleTV. I've read that the Roku devices may allow for the DVR functions during streaming. Anyone familiar with this?
What I'd like to do is start a game about 30-60 minutes late and fast forward through the commercial breaks. Watch a 3 hour game in closer to 2:15 or so... if I read it correctly, the Roku may allow for this. -
Trumbo has HR's in 4 straight games
Brewers swept Boston. Red Sox swept just once last season.

Arte may be at fault for "bad baseball moves" but one thing he can't be at fault for is trying to win, and being willing to spend HIS MONEY to do so. That's a lot more than fans of other teams can say about their owner(s)....
Guess who's leading the NL in WAR?

You should have clarified that you're using baseball-reference. Because Fangraphs has Mike Trout as the MLB leader in WAR at 2.3. Dee Gordon at 2.2
