  1. I think if Arte was going to fire Scioscia he would have done it for the very reason of getting a high draft pick for his new manager and possible new manager AND GM.
  2. I've been a fan of the team since 78. I always wanted the Angels to make it to .500 and above and be a winning franchise. It's been a long, long road and we crept to within 10 games this last season. Each one of these wins means a lot to me as a long time fan. We might lose a little ground this year, but we're minimizing the damage and with a healthy turnaround next year (which I believe is possible with a couple of pitchers added) we can finally get there. Those last two games we gave away at Seattle at the end of last season pissed me off because we could have pulled to within six games of .500.
  3. We were spoiled with KRod and Shields all those years, and Percy before them.
  4. I'm telling you...they're playing together, and not playing out the string. Give Scioscia credit for this. His players haven't given up.
  5. Gotta admit, it would have been easy to tank all these games, especially if they didn't want him back.
  6. If that report is to be believed, the moment everything started to unravel was when Arte forced Reagins to trade for Wells.
  7. Have you guys ever heard of coachspeak? Scioscia throws Dipoto under the bus = good luck finding a new GM who wants to come here and work with him Scioscia says we are fine and on the same page = next GM Scioscia works with trusts him as they put a new team together, be it here or elsewhere
  8. Saunders getting squeezed in the ALCS at Yankee Stadium. We had a chance til then.
  9. He cares about the Dodgers because he wants to rule the LA market. First thing he did was change the name to L.A. Then he put ads all over town calling the Angels the A Team. Then he went after Pujols. Then he lost Greinke to the Dodgers so he got Hamilton. A Dodgers title would be the kick in the ass needed for us, IMHO. Or better yet the Dodgers make the Series but lose. Either way, Arte's going to do something to keep up with the Joneses. He isn't going to just sit back and hope this trainwreck straightens itself out.
  10. I don't think Arte is a bad guy, or necessarily a bad owner. I think his heart was in the right place in signing Scioscia to a long term deal, and he wanted the Angels to compete with the Yankees in signing Pujols (who helped the Angels in turn get the big TV deal). I think he's a smart man who learns from his mistakes (Who saw Hamilton flopping for an entire season? No one) and he will do what it takes. To answer your question about what the Dodgers have to do with any of this....they are in the same market. No way a proud guy like Arte just resigns himself to eight more years of Albert Pujols suckage. He's going to get us out of this mess. This is my only hope....so if you don't agree, :op
  11. And Arte's realization that the Doyers are threatening his brand will get us out.
  12. I live here in Kentucky. My Wildcats started winning huge when John Calipari came to town. Guess what? Louisville and Indiana suddenly stepped up their game out of necessity and now they are two of the top six or seven programs in the country right now. A rising tide lifts all boats. Arte is a smart man or he wouldn't be where he is in life. He knows he has messed up a good thing with Pujols and Hamilton and firing many of the scouts. First and foremost he's going to pick one between Scioscia and Dipoto and try to find a GM/Coach combo that can work together. Secondly he's going to do what it takes to put a pitching staff together that can make the playoffs. The Angels have scored more runs than many of the teams that are going to the playoffs this year. He is aware of his reputation based on the Albert Pujols and Hackilton signings. He's not going down that road again. Instead, he's going to secure the one thing that his fanbase can cling to right now....Trout.
  13. I know, this is much easier said by someone who doesn't live amongst Dodger fans, but....the Dodgers winning the pennant this year would to a long way towards Arte making the decisions that have to be made to make the Angels competitors again, such as locking up Trout long term, putting together a contending pitching staff, and deciding which of Scioscia/Dipoto he wants to keep, because both together obviously isn't working.
  14. We owned the older Steinbrenner. We need to bring him back somehow.
  15. This is what it feels like to be a Blue Jays fan, or a Marlins fan, or a Cubs fan.
  16. And sometimes when we touch The irony's too much And I have to sit right down and cry
  17. Detroit fans have to be wondering WTF
  18. Would love to see Aytard cost the Cardinals a Game Seven doing something stupid. Like...down one in the bottom of the ninth he leads off trying to stretch a single into a double and gets thrown out by five feet. I would get joy out of that.
  19. "Pearl Jam never sang about Jason."
  20. "Why didn't I slide?" "Freakin' Jeter."
  21. What other team has blown it in the trade department more than we have recently? I mean for the love of God you'd think they'd get one of them right.
  22. Too bad it's playing for all the other teams. Segura, Chatwood, Corbin, Skaggs, Napoli, Santana... All doing much better than the clowns we replaced them with or held onto. This is how you blow two straight seasons that you entered as a World Series favorite.
