  1. He definitely has the green light. Wash said that last night Adrianza batted in the 9th because he was supposed to bunt Adell and O'Hoppe over. That tells me they didn't tell Adell to or expect Adell to steal third.
  2. I don't appreciate your comment on mine suggesting that I was expecting Adell to continue performing at an MVP or superstar level pace. I feel like you misinterpreted my post in bad faith in order to pick an argument with me and simultaneously you added no unique or original discussion to the thread.
  3. Thank you for taking 5 sentences to write that we shouldn't expect Adell to produce at an MVP level all season. Truly brilliant contributions.
  4. Moore is conceivably a good signing because he doesn't suck, but the signing also doesn't actually make any sense. Moore is 34 years old and on a year deal -- presumably won't be on the team next year. Are we actually getting closer to the eventual goal of winning a World Series by signing him? The better idea would probably be to use those innings to develop a reliever who might have future value to the org. Relievers max out at 1 to 1.5 WAR due to the smaller quantity of innings they pitch. Should a 73 win club really be spending $9mm on a player who is capped at 1.5 additional WAR? Just an ignorant and blind way for the front office to be spending money. You're either paying $9mm for a low level prospect at the trade deadline, or for a rental to help you win 74 games instead of 73 games. Like, what are we doing here?
  5. I posted this in the game thread last night but will bring it up again. Per statcast, this year Adell has an expected batting average of .320 and expected slugging percentage of .562. He also has 2 HRs and 6 SBs in ~35 ABs. If you extrapolate that over a 600 AB full season he's pacing for 30 HRs and 70 SBs. So yes... in his 16 games in 2024, Adell has somehow legitimately produced at a Ronald Acuna level. He should probably be in the lineup everyday.
  6. Not that anyone asked, or wants to know, but my ideal lineup against RHP as of today would be below. The lack of a true leadoff hitter or any decent lefties is just brutal. Ward - LF Trout - CF O'Hoppe - C Adell - DH Sano - 3B Schanuel - 1B Drury - 2B Moniak - RF Neto - SS
  7. The order of tonight's lineup is a bit of a logic defying shitshow, but I guess it might just be so crazy that it could work.
  8. Minasian should be held accountable for his draft strategy and draft picks until other speculation is shown to have any basis. The GM turns the draft picks in, not the owner. I think you're just happy to use the Arte excuse rather than confronting the very real possibility the Angels may have suffered from poor drafting by a bad GM hire.
  9. For me I think an underrated part of this game was leaving Detmers in for the 7th inning, where he gave up the 4th run. He clearly didn't have his best stuff tonight and that run would have been nice to have back.
  10. I mean I don't know how many different ways I can phrase it. You're not going to the package you're dreaming about from the Orioles. They don't need Detmers and he doesn't fit what they're building. Also, Irvin is nothing. He's a 29 year old career 4.42 ERA pitcher who survives on weak contact. Notice he has pitched for the A's and Orioles, the two most unfavorable home parks for batters. You could probably get him for Jose Suarez if you wanted.
  11. Because he is the worst hitter on the team and put up a wildly uncompetitive at bat? Rengifo and Neto or Adrianza and Rengifo. Hmmmmmm Gotta be sarcasm
  12. Well the reason he hasn't been let go was in the post you quoted. He was very solid as a 23 and 24 year old in 2021 and 2022.
  13. Suarez remains possibly the most baffling story on this team. From a very useful sub 4.00 ERA in 2021 and 2022 as a 23 and 24 year old.... to a complete nightmare. What the hell happened.
  14. The stance is a lot different compared to the past two years. Much more athletic and his hands aren't as far away from the plate, both of which I think are helping him react to pitches more quickly.
  15. Boneheaded baserunning mistakes aside, Jo Adell has legitimately been phenomenal this year. His statcast numbers show an expected batting average of .315, and expected slugging percentage of .478. With 2 HRs and 5 SBs in ~35 ABs, you could extrapolate those figures for a full season of 600 ABs and estimate that Adell would be on pace for 30 HRs and 75 SBs over a full season. While these numbers would probably be wildly optimistic, they do show that his small sample size production at the start of this season has been truly elite.
  16. It just doesn't make sense for either side. The Angels probably view Detmers as a future #1 or #2, and the Orioles would view him as their future #3 or #4. You're not going to get fair value from them. Detmers would also be hitting arbitration around roughly the same time Rodriguez and Bradish are, which would be another problem for the Orioles. Burnes, Rodriguez, Bradish, and Detmers are all good pitchers who will command significant contracts. They probably would prefer Povich sliding into the #4 spot since his contract timetable will be behind the others.
  17. Taylor Ward grades out fine defensively but I feel like he just does not pass the eye test out there at all.
  18. Pleasantly surprised by Sano. I wonder if he's still keeping it up by the TDL, do you try to early extend him for ~1yr/$5mm or just take the lottery ticket low level prospect?
