  1. I doubt Trout gets a pitch to hit. we'll see. I wouldn't let him beat my team. not intentional walk - but nothing across the plate for this guy
  2. "Pace of the Game guys" assigned by MLB are going to have to deal with Tony LaRussa all season long. so much for speeding things up........
  3. at Tempe Diablo Complex they have that specially designed infield diamond just to practice things like fielding the bunt and making throws to get force outs. Inglesias should have spent more time there this Spring.
  4. geez - Ingelsis (spelled wrong) really needs to work on his throwing around the diamond. OUCH
  5. I love it - we're double switching in an AL game against a LaRussa managed team. Maddon is effectively out-LaRussaing La Russa !!
  6. thanks - that is exactly why I asked - it sounds like him but have not heard him for some time. I think he'll do great for us -- but it sounds like he's going to be called away quite a bit to do national broadcasts. I am OK with that. Gives Halos some added national exposure.
  7. this White Sox team is pretty good. not counting chickens here - but what we need to do is WIN SERIES. Series by Series, we may do that here - against a good team !
  8. I'm liking our team and what I am seeing here hey - who are the announcers on the ESPN telecast tonight -- main pbp guy is who? Sounds like A-Rod is the second guy on the broadcast.
  9. great. oh , BTW - it's game ONE. but then again - we've all been terrible Halos April starts. nice to get this opener win tonight.
  10. not that I am willing to give home plate ump Doug Eddings a pass on this -- he definitely messed the whole situation up and caused the confusion in the first place. I just thought a catcher needs to act independently of the ump on a close play and not anticipate/ guess what the call may be - just assume it's going against you and that play is active.
  11. nice to see a real closer for the Angels. brings back memories of K-Rod - Mr. 62 saves guy,.
  12. just another Halos victory Let's -- LIGHT UP THE HALO !!!!!
  13. well I still place the blame on OUR catcher - Josh Paul on that play as for the hated AJ Pierzynski - clearly an all around jerk by near - unanimous consensus (just ask the pitching staff he caught) - I thought he played to win and if he could deke the ump and the catcher and everyone else on a ball that may well have been in the dirt - more power to him. It was JOSH PAUL's job to do the typical tag of the batter and not play umpire. AJP just took advantage - a jerk to be sure - but an aggressive one pushing the envelope with smart play -- geez I can't stand the guy but admire his brass in pushing that play. And it killed us and our playoff run.
  14. I can't remember that - and Fowler was good as a flyer - but not as a high priced FA signing. he used to have some speed and had some good offensive years (in Colorado - take 20-30 points off the batting average). But he's lost a step -- and for speedster type player that can be a significant loss in blue book value - always struck out a lot (100 times a year) - not that stellar in the OF defensivelty and a relatively weak arm (RF ? No Way). I think a lot of us had doubts about Fowler - but if he could be obtained at a low price - worth a flyer - but not a multi-year deal.
  15. I really enjoyed watching Simmons play SS for us - he was great - was sad to see him go - was even sadder to later learn about the demon and mental health issues he was dealing with - the guy was always top notch with us. I just cannot find it in myself to say anything negative about him and his play here. this Ingleisi - geez - cue up 'for all the plays I've loved before...'
  16. yeah - this is a weak spot. cannot understand this signing. If Maddon wants an assistant coach from his Chicago days -- then hire Fowler as a coach.
