  1. Kjerstad's being called up tomorrow, Mayo's probably not far, while Holliday might be still a little green and sent back down.  Then, there's Norby, and as you alluded too, Povich.

Their Rotation with Burns and Gray-Rod as the 1-2 is solid, Braddish could be at 3 if he returns to form.  Yet, if they develop issues with 3-5 (between Kramer, Braddish, Irvin, and Wells) in their starting rotation, they're going to be looking, as they most assuredly have the pieces to deal for the top notch SP, especially if he's Lefty.

The Angels should position themselves among those options. I certainly would.

  2. With your #1 Pitcher under control, Lefty at that, and you're willing to give that up for 2 or more players under control, you wouldn't?

I would if it's for any of those players I just mentioned from the post before, a position player and a pitcher if possible, particularly.

I have the MLB app, and watched Cole Irvin pitch Sunday vs KC. Which was a rebound outing for him, but the announcers also mentioned how Povich lurked with supplanting his spot in the rotation before that. Why not, his ERA is .093 w/ Norfolk.

Noticing that, taking Irvin would be the lesser between the 2 in compensation for Detmers, but more at position player. Or, vice versa with taking Povich. I'm only speaking from scenario, but that's timing and strategy involved here.

  3. Okay, good response, but my point is the Orioles have quite a bit to give to get at this juncture that the Angels need.

Look back at that pool, and tell me they wouldn't want to jump into it. The Brewers already did for Burns, as that was BEFORE Mayo and Cowser this last Spring and what they showed.  Hjerstadt Povich, and Norby are popping out of the flock in Norfolk, too, on top of Mayo.

To solidify their chances for a Birdland World Series Championship, they might do that for Detmers (and the Lefty he's showing), as the Angels are in great position to grab some of them, with the fortunate timing over an even better perspective than the Brewers, I might add.

    I'd be pouncing on it!

  4. Rendon was doing a great job with it  though before he tweaked the hammy, damn it!  Hopefully that doesn't hinder him for a full season, 🤞

Still, Neto, as Ron Wash looks around his lineup, might find that in him, who has speed and shows oppo field indicated by that AB tonight.  We shall see.

  5. Every time I return to give a perspective, I ended having boarded "Douche Canoe."

    It's amazing!

"Sell high," especially by what this link is showing, by the Orioles logjam loaded dilemma.  Timing is everything.

By the way, the thread title came from how they just tore it up this Spring; especially, Colton Cowser.

Povich, Mayo, Kjerstad, Norby would be  knocking heavy on the door with just about any other organization.  So, play the logjam into the hands before the opportunity passes on by.

I'm only giving insight but by knucklehead' rude awakening, still.

Rule #1 - Never Split Aces!

Wherever this subject applies, bump it there. I couldn't find where to put it. I never thought the Brewers would trade away Burns, but they did, and the Angels prospect ranking is the worst in baseball, so you see my point.  The bottom line: the Orioles are the best team in baseball by such leverage, so share the love!

  7. First of all, Rendon is looking like that Silver Slugger 3B, again!  Staying healthy, he's a pure hitter!

I'm a strategist, seizing the moment's opportunity, and have pointed out in the past, the caveat with a team holding DEPTH.  A team holding a key piece to such a team's puzzle in pursuit of a World Championship, holds leverage to get more value in return with tapping into it.

(Look at what the Brewers had already done with Corbin Burns, follow suit with Reid Detmers by the game's Lefty that he's looking now.  II's the Angels chance to bolster their base).

Forget about Jackson Holliday (1) and Gunnar Henderson, but focus on others, it's STACKED!  For any team the Orioles could go after for that top notch SP, the following positions by their players pool they can currently leverage with to get it, and vice versa. Overall current MLB prospect ranking in parenthesis before the season began:

3B: Jordan Westburg, Coby Mayo (28)
OF: Cedric Mullins, Colton Cowser (19), Heston Kjerstad (30), Anthony Santander, Kyle Stowers, Connor Norby
    2B: Connor Norby
1B: Santander, Ryan Mountcastle, Kjerstad, Mayo
    C - Samuel Basallo (17)
P: Cole Irvin LHSP, Dean Kremer RHSP, Cade Povich LHSP, Chayce McDermott RHSP, Seth Johnson RHSP

With Kyle Braddish returning for them, I'd be looking between Coby Mayo, Connor Norby, Heston Kjerstad, Cade Povich, Chayce McDermott, Seth Johnson, and Cole Irvin with Trumping Detmers as part of a deal.  Mayo, Kjerstad, and Norby, especially, by their present logjam.  Seize that moments opportunity!

  8. Bump? Don't know how to navigate while I haven't been in here for awhile.  Zac Gallen asks for too much, but Davies might be an option. Although, I can't figure the direction of this team right now, given their inconsistency.  Still, if they might be vying, and want to bolster for some kind of direction under the current contractual conditions, Davies might be a good one to put into their rotatation.

  9. Look, I don't have time for this, I'm usually too busy to put this into my workaround with everything throughout my day.  But it is trade deadline and I'm throwing my 2 cents in.  To win a WS, you need the Horse compliment added to Ohtani and Sandoval (for the matter at this point).  Bundy, Heaney, and the rest just don't cut it.

Mad-Bum, indicated by his outing for a porous team (shades of 70's Nolan Ryan), that guy I'd want in the rotation!

  10. Mad-Bum's contract runs out after 24.  31 y/o now.  His Cot's line,

    20:$6M, 21:$19M, 22:$23M, 23:$23M, 24:$14M

limited no-trade protection: may block deals to 5 clubs

You're comparing Heaney to Mad-Bum, AngelStew?!  How the rumors may surface over Mad-Bum by the deadline says it all!

  11. We have J-Up back with Trout and Rendon to follow, and by that time the Angels are, unequivocally, the best lineup in baseball.  Yes they are, better than D-Town even, there, which Arte absolutely loves!
So they have to be buyers for a key SP by the deadline.  They have Pujols falling off the books after this year but I'm sure he'd like to put that money into Ohtani on a lifetime deal by that point.  Who else is falling off the books?
By Cot's Baseball Contracts, factor after Pujols 30 mil, Fowlers 14.5 mil is falling off, Cobb's 15 mil.   Mad-Bum fits right in!

  12. For whatever reason, but the temporary return maybe turned out to be in sympathy for Don, rather, too.

Dave Sims of the M's is among my favs, but likely unavailable.  Whether $ might be involved that Arte decided that he no longer wants to pay for 2, Vasgersian has ended up a Catch-22 puzzler in the mix that he should only go with 1 to begin with.

He knows his pitching...... Which is why we're one of the worst pitching teams in baseball. But he knowsssss his pitching.

I don't have all day, it's based on overall perspective.  Weigh the pros and cons since his arrival beginning from the 2016 season.  He's seemed to work the pipeline pretty well!  Not necessarily FA:

    Ramirez (before injury)

    Robles

    Buttrey

    Bundy

    Andreise

    Parker

    Pena

    Cons:

    Harvey

    Meyer

    Bridwell

    Cahill

Patience, as he finds the pieces here and there to assemble with.

You're saying he's hitting under. 100 because he hurt his toe 1 1/2 years ago?

A grade iii sprain can aggravate forever.  He never fully recovered last year.  You lose your snap if you don't have your big toe. you're basically swinging from the heals of your feet.  People take toe injuries lightly, but not the big toe!  You lose that and you lose your footing, basically.  He's starting to come out of it, though, as good things are ahead for him, I think!

He just turned 33, but he's in the prime of career while his bat speed slowed way down; because of the toe.
