  1. I certainly get your point... but I loved the 2014 and '15 seasons, even though both ended in disappointment. Trout's walkoffs on 4th of July 2014 or against the Red Sox in July 2015, or the aforementioned grand slam off Sale, or the rally against Rodney in 2014 with Trout and Pujols shooting mock arrows at each other... I still view those moments with lots of excitement. Because it felt like the team at least had a chance to do something those seasons. And I haven't felt that since. I really like this year's team. It FEELS like it should have a lot better record than it does. And that sucks. Full disclosure: I drank a bottle of wine while watching the game last night. This season is not actually depressing. Just disappointing... so far. There is still plenty of time.
  2. He has definitely had some big hits in the 9th - that home run against St. Louis a few weeks ago comes to mind. Hell, that leadoff single tonight could have been huge, but no one even moved him over. My point was more that it has been a depressing last few years with this team and when I hear Gubi say that Trout's last walkoff was in 2015 - or hear him mention for the 500th time Trout's grand slam against Chris Sale, which will be nine years ago in a week - it makes me realize just how long it has been since I have felt true excitement being an Angels fan.
  3. When Trout led off the 9th and Gubi said "His last walkoff was in 2015," it depressed me. He hasn't had a walkoff home run in eight years? Maybe this is just going to be another season of hovering around .500, getting made fun of by the national media, and watching a dozen teams play in October while the Angels do not. At least I'm used to it.
  4. Well said. It's hard to get too excited about four-game win streaks knowing that they are capable of doing some of the dumbest shit imaginable at the drop of a hat. (On the plus side, it's hard to get too disappointed with them anymore. I pretty much expect these kind of games now.)
  5. Moniak dropped a fly ball. Thaiss neglected to step on home plate.
  6. I can't believe the guy who committed catcher's interference twice in one inning neglected to step on home plate for a force out.
  7. Well, there is certainly a lot more of him to see.
  8. I hope Loup isn't the one DFAd, and there's a sentence I never thought I would write.
  9. As a kid, I was 100% certain I was going to be a cop. I thought it was all fun and games, like movie stars ride along with you (The Hard Way) or you go undercover and deal drugs (Deep Cover). I mean, sure, every once in a while you have to go barefoot and shoot a bunch of East Germans who take hostages in Nakatomi on Christmas Eve (Jingle All The Way - I think) but overall it looked like the most fun job in the world. Then when I was about 10 my grandfather, who served 30 years in the LASD and retired as a captain, took me to breakfast and laid it out for me: "The first half of my career, all I did was write reports. The second half, all I did was go to meetings. I never went undercover. I only fired my weapon once; it was a warning shot and I got in trouble for doing it. You should become a lawyer like your dad." I did not become a cop. (Or a lawyer.)
  10. Yes. I expect in the final years of his contract, when his elite speed is long gone, that he will only try to hit homers. A more likable version of Pujols. I expect he will spend a lot more time at DH to stay healthy. I think it's more likely that he hits 600 than fails to reach 500.
  11. I don't count anything that happened before Neto.
  12. That was the most enjoyable series in years. F**k the Red Sox.
  13. Has Moronta shown you one single thing to make you think he can perform at this level?
  14. Pretty sure Trout just read your post and it pissed him off.
  15. I just assumed you watch it every Sunday. (Unless Deep Cover is on, obviously.)
  16. That reminds me of the time my buddies and I broke into a cafe to hide from a rival gang and my buddy JD took a shotgun blast to the leg. Wait... sorry, that was American Me.
  17. Two or three times per season, Simba would do something that I had literally never seen before. It was such a thrill. I don't know if I'll ever have that with Neto, but I sure do like him so far.
