  1. Replay officials are not trying to get the call correct. They are trying to uphold the call on the field. You can be pissed off at it, but don't be surprised by it.
  2. Very true. And as hardcore fans, we should be sanguine. But if the Angels are still sitting behind half a dozen teams at the trade deadline, I hope the front office is realistic.
  3. I don't think enough people realize this. The Angels are not only third in the AL West, they behind FOUR teams in the AL East: Tampa, New York, Baltimore, and Toronto. The Angels are better than they have been in years, but so are Texas and Baltimore, and that is making the path to the postseason more difficult than I expected it to be before the season began.
  4. We have a winning record again. Home games against the Cubs and Mariners coming up.
  5. I remember when I was a little kid asking my dad if a narrator read the opening to Law & Order every episode, because it always sounded exactly the same ("In the criminal justice system...) He explained to me that it was a recording and that's why it sounded exactly the same. I wonder if Randazzo does the same thing with "Angels threaten but don't score." It feels like I've heard it 200 times this season and it always sounds the same.
  6. A 92 mph fastball over the heart of the plate on a 3-2 count. Trout is not great at the moment.
  7. He is also about to turn 32 and has 7 years and 260 million dollars owed him after this season. If people want to give him away for salary relief, that is a valid opinion. I strongly disagree with it, but respect it. But do people think the Angels will find someone to take on that contract AND give up a bunch of good prospects, too? What exactly is the goal of trading Trout? What should the Angels do with the money they save? Try to sign a player who will give them 4-7 WAR for the next few seasons? Someone as good as.... Mike Trout?
  8. What kind of bounty do you expect for Rendon and Trout?
  9. I mean... I can't really give up on the season on June 3rd. That being said, there are some years you can hover around .500 and hope to get hot and make a run. But this doesn't look like one of them. I can certainly see the Angels ending the season with a better record than Boston or Seattle. But that leaves Houston (or Texas, if Houston overtakes them), the Yankees, Blue Jays, and Orioles. I do not see the Angels finishing with a better record than any of those four teams, let alone three of them.
  10. Did you know every team in the AL East, even last-place Boston, is ahead of the Angels in the Wild Card standings?
  11. He has already decided to sign with Seattle next season. He is lowering his trade value so that the Angels don't receive any good prospects at this year's deadline. He is thinking ahead. (Note: I do not actually believe this, but it would be pretty deviously awesome if it were true.)
  12. It still would not surprise me if they finish the year with a winning record. But we are seeing just how far they still have to go to compete with the big boys, and it kind of sucks.
  13. I don't want to lose Shohei... but I don't want the Angels to pay him the ungodly amount it will take to keep him. Especially after seeing Neto, Moniak, O'Hoppe, etc. I would enjoy seeing what prospects Minasian could get for Shohei.
  14. If he keeps this up, he could be an All Star reserve. Yandy Diaz will probably get the start at catcher, though.
  15. I watched the Celtics get their asses kicked at home in a Game 7.
