Can't say now. It all depends how well he pitches this year. Weaver looked really good against the White Sox yesterday and really good against Texas in his first start. He already took one hometown discount to stay with the Angels and I think he will take another one. If he is effective this year I have no problem keeping him around.

High OBP players with minimal power from Cuba, for example Hector Olivera and Rusney Castillo, have had trouble transitioning to the MLB. I would be very wary about giving Hernandez a large guaranty.

What's for sale?
I dont think the Angels are in a position to sell yet. If they were I can't see Arte going for a full blow fire sale. The only players I can see them trading are: Escobar, Street, Wilson, Soto and Smith. The rest either have too many years of team control remaining (Trout, Calhoun, Simmons ect) or have no real trade value (Pujols, Gia, Pennington ect.)
-
2B is the biggest are of need if you ask me. Gia managed to hit just enough to cover his other flaws last year but its not the case this year. He doesn't bring anything to the table right now.

Not really. All Trout would've done if successful was put himself in scoring position for Pujols & Calhoun with one out.
If it was an attempt to score, it would have been a smarter risk, but not an attempt to get stranded in scoring position.
An attempt to get stranded in scoring position??? By that logic Trout shouldn't even have run to first base because he would have just been stranded on first. Better to be stranded on second than first.

Trout w/ 3 hits.
Angels as a team, 4 hits.
The thread should be renamed to "Who's hitting, besides Mike Trout?" (and Kole Calhoun)
Escobar has done a good job getting on base which is exactly what he was brought in to do.

They wanted a RHP in for one more batter so Mike left Richards in.
-
I like 2 runs, 6 k, and 6 innings a bit better though.
Somewhat shocked but Garret pulled in together. Still would like to see a lower pitch count and a better K to BB ratio but this game ended better than it started for Garret.
-
2 runs, 3 K, 3 BB and 85 pitches through 5 innings is not anywhere close to an "ace"
-
Only one run but 75 pitches through 4 means Richards wont last long. Going to have to see Salas and company early.
-
Trout can still hit Sale. Other than that this game has been a total disaster so far
-
That is why the Angels don't steal anymore
-
Not really. Even Trout's SB% has tanked since his rookie campaign.

Saw an article on ESPN last night with the headline: "Has Harper surpassed Trout as baseball's best player?" Getting real tired of this BS, time for the G.O.A.T. to wake up!
Hate it all you want but the fact is Harper is crushing the ball and improving his plate approach while Mike is getting pull happy and striking out a ton. Mike was a lot better early in his career but right now Harper is a better hitter. Hopefully that wont last.

Speaking of which, did Wilson die or something? Haven't heard anything at all about him in weeks.
He still isn't throwing from a mound. Started playing catch again about a week ago but sounds like his return is still a long way off.
-
does anyone else find it interesting that Soto is playing back to back games with a night game followed by a day game?
Perez started yesterday's game
-
And now he throws 75 mph!!
Still better than the 0 MPH Wilson is throwing

Hello all. New here. Angels fan living in west Texas. Been looking for an Angels forum since moving to Texas. Used MLB.com and MLBTR discussions sections before but found those lacking in users.

The Angels aren't the only offense Latos has fooled this year. He has the 3rd lowest ERA in the majors and has been generating a lot of weak contact. Not sure if it will last but there was a time when Latos was a #1-#2 starter.
P.S: New here. Been looking for an Angels forum since I am living in Texas these days.
Question regarding Weaver.

You are nuts. From 2008 to now Weaver has had one bad season, 2014. Other than that he was been a really reliable starter that has provided 200 + inning with a sub 4.00 ERA every season since 2008.
