My expectations are high and my patience is limited. That makes for a bad combination... I hate having this much angst so early in the season, but firing Scioscia isn't going to solve anything.
I couldn't have said it any better

I get as hot as anyone about Sosh & bad loses. Shoot I had to get talked off a ledge last night after the CoCo's dinger in the 2nd!. I also get that AW is a place where we fans will vent and flip out over all of the crazy things that go wrong during a game. At the same time, seeing some of the bickering and what not is amazing. JUST an observation...

Erstad as manager
Don Baylor as bench coach
Percival as pitching coach.
I don't think you'd see too many guys looking like they're going through the motions.
Damn, that may be the best post I've seen since the new format - on 100% POINT!!

I got nothin'
Does anyone know where I could get a retired player's jersey? Or even one of those t-shirts that looks like a jersey?
You MAY be able to get a current style jersey t shirt made on the angels or mlb site. You pick the number and the name. I think it may run you double the cost of a regular jersey t, but for me, I'd gladly pay that price for a Salmon, Anderson, Erstad, Percival red jersey T

I have to agree. Then again, maybe it is just the statements he has more than once that he was more comfortable in CF, and he says so with an attitude of "team player", which is cool but he's not kidding anyone - if he had HIS way, he'd be in CF. There is more action, more often and he is great there. Don't get me wrong, I'm on the Speedy Petey wagon...BUT, I'm just giving my thoughts on the question proposed

THIS is when all the people who think I am so lucky to have all the Spring Training action I can get, are proven wrong. Enjoy the day long party that is known as Opening Day #AngelsFamily and do so with the class we are known for. I say everyone who can wear some sort of NA tribute and make sure and give Mr. Hamilton a ROARING standing ovation. One so great that he has to leave the batters box to tip his hat to the crowd. Make him feel like he is wanted here!
I miss my season tix in sec 237, row A, seats 1-4. If anyone is close to there and can send me a picture that would bring me tears of joy! I assume there will be some sort of photo galery for talegate/in the stands pix??

So our new running feature of the 2002 season was the inspiration behind this thread. If you haven't voted yet, please do.
Also, if you did become a fan after the 2002 club, these games were historic in that the 2002 Anaheim Angels was magical and at times just eye popping unreal. To relive this again, I'm excited as I've watched the World Series DVD many times, but it was the entire season before they got there that was just amazing to take in as a fan.
Obtaining and watching "A Red Dawn Rises" may be a good investment for a Pre 2002 fan to get and watch before the WS DVD. I wish I still had mine, but I still have my 2002 DVD and will always cherish it. Still get goosebumps and tears watching it.
"He wasn't about to let the moment pass him by..." if you know that line, you know why I have always had the profile pic I have have.

Question? If you could relive the 2002 season all over again here on the board, in detailed fashion, game by game till the Erstad's final catch, would you be interested?
Sign me up for the September series vs. Oakland, The ALDS vs NYY in Anaheim (both games) and Game muthafn SIX, cuz, you know, I was THERE

Can remember my first game in 95 on grandma's cookies trading card day, but got really hooked in around 97-98 when my mom's company got season tix and nobody would want the tix.
I TOTALLY remember thise trading cards!!! Had them til maybe 8 years ago!!! What about the 95" Pic N Save "CA" beach towel give away??

My signature below pretty much tells the tail. However, I have to admit, my Hard Core "Angels Only" fandom probably started and never looked back in 1993, the dawning of the Tim Salmon era. That's when I got a car and could really go to games on my own and REALLY get into it.

I heard Vlads goal is hitting HR #500... That is 50+ more. I jave a feeling Tim Salmon has a better shot at hitting #300. Love you Vlad and you were one of thw best Angels ever, but it kind of hurts seeing him go down like this. Wish he could be like a Spanish speaking ambassador for the Angels or MLB.

JUST in case anyone really cares, the New Body Armor "Super Drink" that the best baseball player on the planet is now endorsing, is made of good stuff (for example, pure cane sugar rather than Hi Fructose Corn Syrup and coconut water) but it COULD be better on the taste factor - I got the Orange Mango.
I suppose I could have used the shout box for this info BUT whatever...enjoy

Damn...DAMN DAMN....tell me that there will be another chance for a photo op...somehow, someway, there HAS to be....RIGHT???

Where is Scotty Shields when you need him! I think "off the field" problems weren't a problem in Anaheim. Blow 10 saves by Mauy and I think Arte would wish he HAD signed K-Rod.

My mind is still blurry from over 32 hours of windshield time. But, I made it back home safe and can't wait to start processing what happened this past weekend. Wow! What a time! So proud of our team! So proud of our members! So proud of our website! It seriously came together exactly how we mapped it out. Exactly! Yet, less than 2 hours after it was over the team got together, talked about how it could have been better and started planning for next year! All I can say is, you're all in for a blowout event next year!
Thank you all for making this weekend and the event so special. I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time hanging out with everyone. That is absolutely something we'll correct next year!
Dude...32 windshield hours!? You need an award or something named after you!! With what 3 kids n wife to boot. On top of everything else you did for the event. ..wow. thanks for all you and the BOD do. Being a local here if I can ever help in any way in the planning or research for the next springs event just say the word. It would be my pleasure.

This was my second ST FanFest and frankly, March is my "Christmas Season" if you will. Seeing all the Halos and all the red litterally makes me a 6 year old on Christmas morning. My biggest take aways from the weekend are....
How cool was it that Brian, Geoff, and Chuck ALL said to me "Dude, you missed half of Salmon". They all know he is my guy and I did virtual cartwheels when I found out he WAS going to be there THIS year. I'll thank the In Law for my late arrival on that one. I'll get my photo op with TS some day.
Getting a chance to call Dipoto "JeDi" face to face, was a moment I will never forget! I have to admit, I was hoping for a better story in response to my question but no biggie.
I got a chance to meet a few people I have tweeted with/followed/seen here such as Jeremy (Jbomb), John (Champions 2002?), Tracey Flynn, Chuck, Geoff, Brian, Nye. I realized I ALMOST met a few others, after the fact, like Becky Brown bear and her boyfriend amongst many others.
Perhaps the biggest take away was something that Tim Mead said...he really emphasized all of us really trying to "connect" with one another. I "know" only a handful of people here on the site AND live in AZ. Many of us are away from our second home, aka Angels Satadium, aka, Anaheim Stadium and don't have any other way of connecting, than here on AW. I would really enjoy, making 2013 a year where, especially with the new "bigger boat"/website, we can all do a little bit more "connecting". Having us all know each other a little better would make next years event that much more spectacular.
Having replica World Series rings on our fingers would be pretty sweet too.

Trumbo has a higher ceiling than KMO. Trumbo could legitimately for the top of the league in HR AND can 1B, LF and, obviously DH. Additionally he has that "club control" aspect. Put all of that together and Trumbo is far more valuable to the franchise than KMO could have been. I think the move was brilliant actually - Good Job JeDi!!

Yeah, Jeffy got his ring - need to get Weave his

I'm new-ish to the board. I've posted here and there, but not to the extent that some of you gristled vets have. My name is Mike (duh), I blog and podcast for LA Angels Insider, I live in parts unknown (AKA Central PA), and I have the same affliction as the rest of you (For eight months out of the year I breathe baseball). Hopefully I stop lurking and post more, but if I'm not here you can find me on Twitter at @mike_hllywa.
Let's get snarky.
Hey there Mike...I follow you on the Twitter! Great seeing you here!

Game 3, In Anaheim, I think we were down 6-1 at one point...yeah, I was there, terrace level 1st base side by the Panda Express, next to "Cow Bell Guy"....to date, that was the greatest game I had ever seen and the most electric I had ever seen that stadium.
And No, amazingly enough, they STILL didn't fire Scioscia!
-
Guess I gotta fork over the 20 bones for MLB At Bat to get my listen on.
-
Whoa whoa WHOA....Salmon and Sutton are calling games!? Terry Smith IS still in the mix, right? This Salmon news is AWESOME!!
Scioscia needs to go..

Arte is one of the smartest and greatest owners in sports. He and the entire front office have spent the last 10 years trying to establish a culture of winning and restoring some tradition to a franchise that was nothing more than the red headed step child to the Doyers for most of their existance. I'll say this, I am reading and posting in this thread for a reason. But calling Arte out for giving Sosh a 10 year deal, ehhh not so fast...
Like I said, the FO is trying to establish a culture here. Who was the last manager to take this team to 6 playoffs in 8 seasons, (5 yrs out of the previous 7 when the contract was signed if I'm not mistaken) that included a WS Championship & 2 additional ALCS appearances? Like it or not, it was Scioscia. Giving him the 10 yr deal was almost a no brainer. We don't like it now because of the high expectations and lack of results. Shoot, I don't like it now either but given the current history at the point in time, I see nothing wron with the decsion - I actually almost applauded it.
