  1. CJ and Green got off to great starts last night and Jimenez didn't look bad starting that DP in a clutch situation. I'm also very happy with 4 of our starters right now Richards and Skaggs are looking like they could be pitching in the front of the rotation. CJ Wilson has been a horse while Weaver is solid for 6 . Santiago kind of scares me though he is an improvement over some of what we had last year and isn't a bad 5 starter. He needs to slow down and take his time and not get all out in front of himself. Just hope they all stay healthy and thankful that even with the injuries none have been to our starting 5.
  2. It has been 10 plus years now but how did you get together and talk Angel Baseball before Chuckyyy put this site together? Were you part of another forum ? Did you just check the paper for your Angel fix each day? How did you get together and share Angel baseball before this site went up. It took me almost the full 10 years before I became a regular here to the site. Now I check it several times a day, And I have to admit chuckyyy and the mods have done a great job putting the site together and getting a huge group of posters in here to talk Angels baseball. At times I wonder if it its to much Go go go Angels and negative opinions of the Angels seem to be frowned upon. But I have really not been here long enough to say that is true or not. I think posters should have the freedom to post what they think rather it is pro or con... Of course no one wants shot out spammers spamming the site and I think a good job is done to prevent that. But overall great job by chuckyyy and crew in putting this site together and keeping it going. For me I was part of the group that was formed on the L.A. Times message board. We had a pretty tight knit group of posters there. People like Chuckyyy, Delnoce, Pablo , Halo (Scott Thurman) , Mark Hennemeth I believe Angelsjunky and Desar were also a part of that group. And we had carl and moneyg a couple Ranger fans who would come and talk smack, Along with Angelina a Marineer fan who would talk smack also. We also had several others who posted with us. It was a pretty tight group and I really enjoyed it until the L.A. Times shut it down. I went by Beerman even though I don't drink I cold not help but get the commercials out of my head of the The Beerman and thus used it as a user name. After the L.A.Times shut us down we bounced from message board to message board but nothing ever seemed to fit or stay long. Till chuckyyy opened up this site and I'm glad he did. So how did you find your way here and how did you get your Angels fix before this site became available? And of course how did you come by your username?
  3. Sorry Mr. Stradling as you can see I am not very good with names either...
  4. Yep, Your correct forgot about the expansion draft. All I remember is seeing him in that Marlins uniform... I believe he was left unprotected because he was starting to have arm trouble... Is that correct? Sorry Captain Spaulding but I'm 2 or 3 years older then the Angels as a organization. That is a lot of baseball seasons to remember off the top of my head.
  5. I don't think Walden being on some of the lists or even Fuentes being on some of the lists is a sign that we had some pretty bad closers. In fact I think it is quite the opposite. It is because of guys like Percy, K - Rod and Harvey that were so dominate for so long for us. That you have to dig for so long to find 10 closers for us. Remember we are an expansion team and have only been in the league since what 1962? I believe until recently we have been blessed at the closer position. Also I added Scott Shields to the list even though he was a set up man just to recognize how great he was. If not for K-Rod ,Shields probably would of been a pure closer. I remember when ever K-Rod went down Shields was lights out in the closer role.
  6. It is kind of hard to ignore Percy as the all time Angels saves leader with over 300 saves as a Angel. I think I would vote for something like this... 1. PERCY - All time saves leader for the Angels. 2. K-Rod - Second most saves as a Angel. 3. Harvey - Loved Harvey but he left us for the Marlins. 4. Lee - Our first big time closer. 5. Moore - Between Moore and Adenhart we have had our share of tragedy with our pitchers 6. Smith - We got him on the downside of his career , But he was still pretty good. 7. Scot Shields - He was never a true closer but did close games for us when the closer could not go. Best set up man to ever wear a Angel uniform. 8. Frieri - When he is on he does well... When he is not we blow huge games. Like Mark Clear he has major control problems. 9. Clear - Had his control issues but was first pitcher to get 100 K's without a start. Mostly a set up man and occasional closer like Shields. 10. Walden - We have had some great closers who hung around for quite a while so from here on down it is a toss up...
  7. 1. Nolan Ryan 2. Chuck Finley 3. Mike Witt 4. Dean Chance 5. Frank Tanana 6. Jared Weaver 7. Clyde Wright 8. Jim Abbott 9. Andy Messersmith 10. Bartolo Colon
  8. Reggie Jackson... I was setting in the Kingdom watching a game when he hit 3 homeruns in the same game back in the late 70's... I was a young man in the Navy at the time.
  9. No doubt Erstad , Snow and Joyner belong on the list and Pujols will find his way up there to before all is said and done. Bochte belongs also he played with same kind of grit as Erstad. And I remember watching Wally Joyner as a wild eyed rookie you knew he would be special. I remember watching Carew the thing I remember most is that crazy stance he had all crouched and ready to strike. He was one of my first Angel players that I was a fan of as a kid towards the end of is career. I still have his rookie card. J.T. Snow was the son of Jack Snow a former L.A. Rams football player. And Erstad was a kicker for the Nebraska Corn Huskers. A pure out country boy. I also think Mo Vaughn deserves a place on the list. It will be interesting to see who y'all think the top 10 starting pitchers will be.
  10. Wow this list takes me way back and I have been lucky enough to watch everyone of them play and wear a Angel uni. Devon White was awesome , I thought Edmonds was awesome. Gary Pettis man that guy was so fast. Lynn kind of came in on the backside of his career. Bourjos was good on the defensive side but his bat can't compete with most on this list. And I know this thread is about defense but when you got a CF that puts all 5 tools together well, To me that is what makes them special and that is why Trout is so special to me. I'm also in the crowd that can't believe Mickey Rivers isn't getting more love then he is. Watching that guy play was a joy. When I think of Rivers I think of Carew just watching them play the game was a treat. It was like they couldn't wait to get to the park and realized what they had was something really special. They enjoyed the game and as a fan you could see they were having fun and giving 110 percent.. I guess maybe several just didn't get the priviledge to see the man play.
