What starting pitchers are available that don't require giving up draft picks besides Arroyo, Garza, Hughes and Colon?
-
Just wanted to say thanks. Been an Angel fan since the day I was born and moved to Texas about 6yrs ago. It's nice to come to a place and talk Angel baseball good, bad or ugly. I like reading everyone's posts and I'm confident we will make the moves required to stick it to Tejas and bring the west title back to where it belongs in Southern California.

I'll probably change my mind 1,000 more times but that's where I'm at today, right now.
-
Sign Arroyo, Hughes and Howell then trade Aybar or HK for major league or near major league cost controlled pitching
-
Yeah. Gotbeer brought up a good point about the years and money and getting locked in. I'm on board with Arroyo and Hughes if we sign 2 FA pitchers.
-
I might want Hughes instead of Colon.
-
Garza doesn't cost a pick
-
And I'm telling you, we might be able to get Arroyo and Colon and Howell for the price of Garza and Howell.
Add into it, Colon will be a one year deal, Arroyo probably a 3 year deal, where Garza may require a 5+ year deal.
I'll take my chances with the shorter deals, and try and get a FA pitcher when true #1 types are on the market.
You're probably right. Maybe I'm being short sided with my thinking. Not sure if want Colon though because of his connection to PED's.
-
I say we sign Garza and Howell an trade for a cost controlled pitcher. Thats just me though.
-
For the price. I think Arroyo and Colon might be had for the same price as Garza. Garza won't cost a draft pick, and is ranked in the tops of the FA starting pitching.
Let's say we could get Garza and Howell for the cost of Arroyo and Colon, which pair would you want?
-
I believe Colon and Arroyo won't cost a draft pick either.
Right, but wouldn't you rather have Garza and Howell than Arroyo and Colon?
-
I'd rather use that money it would cost for arroyo and colon on Garza and Howell. Then we trade for a #3 or #4. I don't care for Garza or his chin pubes but he would be a solid addition and won't cost a draft pick.
-
My brother made it sound like it wasn't a matter of which one but signing both.
-
My brother says we are in on both. I don't see it happening without making trades and if we are making trades than why aren't we trading for pitching. Has anyone heard anything about the Angels signing both Colon and Arroyo?
-
I'd be for Ubaldo Jimenez over Colon as well. But I like both!
Wouldn't Jimenez cost a draft pick?
-
Great signing. Now go get Howell and a couple starters
-
This will piss me off if he signs with the cards.
-
Ya, he probably went from Miller straight to Salas.
We didn't trade Aybar. You telling me if we included Aybar we couldn't have got Kelly or Lynn and a better BP piece than Salas?
-
I'm sure they talked about that, don't you think? someone balked at the idea.
I'm sure they did. I wonder if JD was focused on Miller and lost out on acquiring Kelly and or Lynn plus a better BP piece than Salas.
-
We should of been able to package PB and Aubar for Freese and Kelly or Lynn plus BP help (other than Salas)
-
I thought they wanted to keep their payroll down. What good are all those pitchers if you can only start 5. Seems like they would be better served trading one of those young guys for Aybar and saving cash.
Thank you

Totally agree. It's frustrating as all hell.
