  1. You guys are all missing the clues that are keeping Ibanez in the line up.

He was drafted when pagers were exploding in popularity for people in their teens and twenties which was also the time when scioscia's fondness for baked ziti was growing.

At the same time, a scientist at Johns Hopkins university began to develop codes that could relay an entire message with only a few numbers. One of these such codes was 143 aka I Love You.

Scioscia's love for baked ziti began to grow and he would often send a page to himself every time he devoured a plate of delicious pasta. This page was none but the famous 143.

Fast forward 19 years and we have the answer to Ibanez getting every day playing time. Ibanez is batting 143 and 143 just so happens to ring a bell in scioscia's head, bringing back fond memories for him and that delicious pasta.

Ibanez's rookie year, pagers, ziti, and 143 are all brought together to produce a love from coach to player that cannot and will not ever be broken.

  2. I second giving Ianetta a shot. I know he isn't the best catcher in the world but he is trained to react quick being a catcher and if he can throw from the dish to second from his knees, he should be able to make the throw to 1st. If Pablo Sandoval's fat ass can convert from catcher to 3rd, most catchers should be able to.
