  1. It's not unreasonable to suspect Bailey and Street will be given more of a chance due to their age. The fact this is even a discussion, when Bedrosian is so much better than the other two, indicates how strong Scioscia's veteran preference is.
  2. I mean, sure. But he should be treated as the person who is our best reliever by a very very long way.
  3. Hasn't the "make a splash" approach burned us enough in the past to know that's a silly way to approach things?
  4. Not in our DNA. You'll take our low 80 win season and you will like it.
  5. I suppose it makes sense that the more you understand something, the more you value it. Most or all teams would have really good defensive metrics, especially for outfielders, with the Statcast data. Maybe before teams were pretty sure Player X was provided real defensive value, whereas now they are certain and therefore are willing to pay a higher price. But yes, moving him back to CF makes no sense as it will really crush his value. He won't be a good defensive CF.
  6. This really is out of line with the history of teams not paying for defense.
  7. Kinda like the Shelby Miller deal, this is so out of whack with other valuations.
  8. They got a really good player. But yeah, they gave up way too much.
  9. It's going to be so f**king frustrating watching Bailey and Street used in the highest leverage situations while Bedrosian scratches his nuts in the 'pen.
  10. White Sox have killed it in the past 48 hours. They need to keep it going and sell Quintana and Frazier now. I can't believe the Nationals were willing to pay that much. Absolutely crazy.
  11. I saw him on MLB Network yesterday and he sure made it sound like we would pick someone in the Rule V draft.
  12. You're right, there was a prospect in there too and we know you hate those.
  13. We traded a 10-4 pitcher for a 4-8 pitcher, aren't you supposed to hate that?
  14. You seem to enjoy judging pitchers by their win-loss record, but love Nolasco and his 8-14 record. How does that work?
  15. Fangraphs' projection system is expecting a -1.1 WAR season from Desmond at 1B in 2017. Oh my.
  16. I really buy Bedrosian, but for me the Ken Giles trade is the benchmark. Bedrosian isn't worth as much, but if someone thought he was worth 75 per cent of the value the Astros gave up in the Giles trade then I would totally bite. On the trade, I'm a bit surprised the Brewers didn't get more. The Sox did well in this one.
  17. All these comments saying the White Soc "got fleeced" are insane and so ignorant. They got a huge haul.
  18. Yep, that's legal. The Cubs this year flipped relievers a couple of times (one faced one batter, played the OF for an out then came back to pitch).
