  1. This is part of why I go on the Angels Fan Cruise every year.. I get to spend a weekend talking Angels Baseball with a bunch of people that miss baseball as much as I do..

It happened today:  January 6, 2014.  I am really, really ready for Angels baseball...ANY baseball.  Didn't anticipate the feeling so early.

I thought the previous season(s) would have kept me from thinking about it for at least another month.

Hurry up baseball.  Man, I'm hungry.

  2. Whatever holiday custom you keep this time of year:

May your Dad and Brother-in-Law both lay off political evangelizing for the day

May you have purchased the right size of batteries

May your Great Aunt Joan realize that nobody likes that gawddamn fruit salad and not bring it this time

May your Mom not insist on saving all the wrapping paper

May all the assembly instructions actually make sense, may all the parts be in the box, and may you have the right wrench and screwdriver

May your dog tolerate the table scraps your niece slipped him and not have a lower intestinal disaster in the living room

May the relatives that are determined to cause a row be delayed at an airport several hundred miles away until late tomorrow afternoon

May the fruitcake actually have enough rum in it to taste good

May your pumpkin pie be done in the middle

May the oven element wait until tomorrow to burn out

May all your relatives and other guests realize that giving professional advice is work for you and that it's a gawddamn holiday

May the police and fire departments not have any official reason to visit your house

And may everyone have a safe and happy New Year

  3. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I got married in Vegas with a wedding that was arranged through the LV tourist bureau.  That was in 97, but it only cost us $150 and included a limo to the courthouse to get the license and a ride back to the hotel after it was finished.

Personally, think about a cruise for a honeymoon!!!  You unpack ONCE, and get to see all kinds of things.  It can cost just about $100 per person per day (MOSTLY LESS!!) and that includes your room and all the food you can eat!!!

  4. Yep.. they are open all 3 days.  I THINK they open at 9am,. but will check when I go into work on Thursday to make sure..

Awesome.  That didn't even cross my mind, I always forget they are open during the off season.  I am going to go down there and check it out.

One more thing to anyone.  Will they be open Sunday or Monday or Tueday?  I won't be back home from work till then.

  5. Late to the party... but damn, do some of these bring back memories.  I was born in Detroit, so I'll have to explain one of these..

-Having to be inside when the streetlights came on

-Seeing Star Wars while on vacation in Florida when I was 13

-Being at the RECORDING of "Live Bullet" by Bob Seger at Cobo Hall

-having a visit by the "swimmobile".  This is a Detroit thing.. it was a portable pool, longer than a 18wheeler, that they would cart to the poorer neighborhoods in the summer.  It would be filled by hoses attached to fire hydrants.  It would stay in the neighborhood from like 9am until the streetlights went on... For most of us, this was the ONLY type of pool we ever saw..

    -penny candy, anyone?

-Gas at 29 cents a gallon??

-50 cent Saturday matinees at the movie theatre that I could WALK to from my house..

-the ORIGINAL release of "Rocky Horror Picture Show"

-Having to buy any type of concert ticket at the actual venue--no ticketmaster when I was young. By the time I got to high school, we had one of the first versions of what would end up as ticketmaster-- CTC-- Convenient ticket Company.

-Bob-Lo Island -- this is also very much just Detroit.  This was our version of Knotts or Disneyland. It was on an island, and you had to take one of their "boats" to get there. It was an hour and a half ride from the downtown Detroit dock to the park, and the boat was a "riverboat with a paddlewheel" that was part of the attraction.  We caused all kinds of trouble on the way there, but not one of us was awake on the way back, ever..

  6. Go figure. I went to this last year. It was a FANTASTIC time!! Actually got to bowl with Bobby Wilson.  CJ spent a lot of time taking pictures and signing autographs for everyone, and he also does a raffle--some of the raffle prizes are better than you can even imagine!!!  There was a gold necklace there.  It included a beautiiful chain, and it was this awesome left handed baseball glove with a diamond for the baseball. Had to be AT LEAST a karat. and tickets were only $1 each, if I remember correctly.

  7. Another friend of mine is also working on the mentalist.  His name is Mark Rojas..  Looks like he belongs in the 80's, with long black hair, and also works as a roadie with my hubby..

Well, you know. Buy low.. sell high.

I'm a dolly grip on various TV series. Taking day work on Mentalist and Pretty Little Liars right now at WB lot mostly, until I get a regular series in town.

The "in town" is the problem part these days.
