  1. Been following your responses here and wanted to add a couple things....

In one of the threads Hamilton was criticized for saying he could play or forcing his way into the lineup.

What would you have said if he said "I can't play"? Don't you want players who want to play, who want to push themselves as hard as possible to play? If Hamilton really wasn't ready (and he wasn't), that's on Scioscia/Dipoto for putting him on the roster, not on Hamilton.

By the way, I think what the Angels were thinking was this "what's the upside of having Cowgill/Navarro in there and losing Hamilton for the entire postseason (which is what happens if you don't give him any ABs) vs. What's the upside of letting him have his "rehab assignment" in the no 7 spot for 3-4 games and him finding it and having an impact if we have advance?"

As for his comments about the booing, I'm sure he didn't like it, but he did understand it. He said "I don't take offense."

Maybe he could have found a more tactful way to express it but the guy wasn't sitting there with a PR rep pondering the right answer. He was throwing stuff into his bag while talking to a reporter.

(By the way, don't you all hate Scioscia for saying the politically correct things instead of the truth?)

I'm pretty sure by the end of the conversation he realized he stepped in it a little bit, which is why I didn't portray it as some tirade against the fans. It wasn't even the lead.

To be fair, it is not all solely on Hamilton. I'm sure I'm not alone in this, that I would prefer a player tell me his limit. He knows his body, he's been down this road before. Some players can handle the mental and physical push of a manager to get over the hump, and some players don't. CJ and Hamilton are in the latter.

I am always a fan, but I am also a human. My sympathy doesn't end because I would like to see them win a world series. If he came out and said " I just wasn't ready, I wasn't physically or mentally in there and didn't not want to hamper down a spot with me not being 100% there". That's fine, but when you give the okay to go out there, and stink it up you have to be prepared and be held accountable.

I agree with Grich. He looks completely lost out there. He seems to be having a perpetually bad time, where he can't get it together. At this point its just hoping for the best.

  2. Its not a crap shoot.  The same players repeatedly choke every postseason.  Kendrick has had several chance to prove himself, he always craps the bed every time we make it.  CJ and Hamilton have always been useless in October, but we signed them anyway and look what happened.

You can try to call it a crap shoot as much as you want, but how many times do we have to get eliminated before people start realizing you dont just luck yourself to a championship.  Theres a reason the Cardinals and Giants have won.  The Red Sox won last year because they had a roster full of postseason performers.  Saying its a crap shoot is just a cop out for a team that always dominates the regular season but cant get it done when it matters.

THANK YOU. I've been trying to explain this to my fiancé who was uber pissed last night.

  3. I love seeing the Trumbombs, but where do they fall in the standings? We needed pitching above all else. I don't think Chuck meant it to be as if they don't count, but the didn't really help too much because at the end of the day it is a team effort and having one guy hitting bombs all the time isn't going to win your game if your SP or other 8 players can't keep you in the game. It's a win win with us having a slight edge.

  4. I may not like Puig, but I hope he can get it together. I love watching baseball, and he's talented but the lack of discipline is what is telling about his overall character. I can only hope the the readjustment and That soon it will be over. Who knows. Would definitely be sad for him to lose his opportunity over things that could easily be fized.

  5. Yeah, well that's not saying much considering we're not even a full week into the season. Let's wait till we get much closer to the all-newstar break before we start getting our panties wet. I am glad he isn't flailing, but these early months were never an issue. And he can hit all the home runs he wants and still not get anywhere with Arizona.

  6. You know this is a great subject. A bit off your subject but still connecting to it. My boyfriend happens to be white, and he's an angel fan. Some mutual friends for my brother's little league team are Mexican like I myself am and love the Dodgers. When they found out he was an angel fan, he just kind of laughed and was like " los gabachos simpre les van a los angeles". Which is yes those whites always go for the angels. For me it threw me off to hear someone point it that way considering I believe people root for teams they like regardless of race.

    TL;DR

People will also says try to make anything sound racist it they want to feel offendes.

  7. Well, I got cried in the parking lot at tonight's Ducks vs Kings game when I heard the news. I knew he was going to go but I didn't want it to be for the Yankees. Oh well. He'll hopefully get a higher HR total thanks to right field. Him and Gardner are definitely going to be a thorn in the side of any pitcher. Bye bye, Granderson. Hopefully this brings Cano some realization that he probably won't get the money he wants. And I knew the BS of the Yankees staying under the tax were ahead of themselves.

  8. I just want to get Crawford back to Fenway and watch him melt down playing the other team. And then for AGoon to tell reporters after the sweep that it wasn't in god's plan.

Something something Beckett fried chicken something.

Is Beckett even able to play?

  9. Red Sox/Dodgers WS would be awesome for baseball. That's the matchup I want, as for who I want to win, that should be obvious.

I'm liking how vehemently the Angels and Dodgers despise each other. Interleague play needs more natural rivalry matchups, not less.

Considering I live in LA, I would love it. Would sell body parts to get to see Game 4 were the Sox would sweeeeep. :)

  10. My boyfriend is having this same dilemma. His reason is "You have already won twice, if you another fine. I couldn't take the Dodgers winning. God they would never let me live it down, especially with how bad the Angels were. F*** the Dodgers."

I will say this, if we Lose to Detroit, GOOO CARDINALS.

  11. I was not.

Come on now, I haven't done anything illegal. And I don't intend to, I'm a peaceful Red Sox fan, until Napoli takes one of his sky hacks and ends up popping up to the pitcher's mound.

EDIT: blame everyone on my site for going to bed when I'm a time zone behind and still have juice left

HEY! I AM THE TOKEN RED SOX FAN IN THIS BOARD, SIR! Thank you guys! I can always count on you guys to be the first one's to post something on here about the scores so I don't have to wait for ESPN to load, when I just get off work at this hour.

  12. I would hope that they are ACTUALLY phoning it in, but I figure at this point in the season the fact that they are 15 games out would be enough of a kick in the balls to snowball to them not being able to do jack shit correctly. Am I glad they are winning? Yes. Does it mean as much and do I care if they were losing instead? No, and at this point I'm just waiting for the Angels season to mercifully come to an end.

  13. A buddy of mine is a diehard Red Sox fan. It was quite strange to find myself rooting for Rays and watching him root for the Angels of late.

Lets go Rays! Lets go Brewers! Lets go Rays! Lets go Rangers! Lets go Twins!

Thankfully 18/31 games left are against the Rangers, As and Rays. Should definitely help us improve our draft status for the 2014 Rule 4.

This is exactly what was going on when I saw the schedule vs Tampa. I couldn't stop wearing my angels stuff everywhere in hopes they could win the games against Tampa. At this point I am not essentially rooting for the losses, but I don't think they should go out of their way to win at this point. I mean there are only so many games left before we are mathematically eliminated anyway. At least there can be a silver lining in the draft pick.
