  1. I throw all the amount of reasonable money at Kershaw, Hanley no. Speaking in a hypothetical, it is the same way I saw the Red Sox a few years ago. Too many people, not enough roster space. Too much money on hand, and the inevitable decrease in production. As " faux Dodger fan" I'd be worried as hell as to the future. They don't win it this year, there is never a guarantee you can make it back again. This would be the worst season to fail. They just completed a run that hasn't been seen in over 70 years and the could potential lose out on a WS? I would want to commit suicide at that point. So much money on the books.....and who is to say there will be a team that would be willing to take on those ridiculous commitments that get made afterwards in future years?

  2. Here we go. Weren't some people on the board upset that Dempster took 4 pitches to hit him, because of the whole unwritten rule that you get one shot. So now that another player, who is not a Yankee is saying it was a stupid move, is getting lambasted for it? Give me a break, just because he's his teammate doesn't have to agree with everything that he does. And what good side? I'm sure that if A-Roid had the goods, he would bring down the entire organization if he could.

  3. "If we talk about the topic openly enough and study the science with ferocity, rather than viewing the PED discussion as juicy gossip and tabloid fodder while wildly pointing fingers, we have a chance to see things as they are. That kind of methodical approach to the PED conversation may be the best way to leave the ugly drama of scandal in our wake and bring our focus back to the striking beauty of the game itself."

Couldn't of said it any better myself.

  4. Bob was THE man out there!  It was tough to follow him after he crushed the first two hits into the left-center field gap for doubles!  He played a great first base too (I stretched-him too far on one throw from short).  I can't wait to see what he does for an encore next year!  And, hopefully I'll make it to the Angels party afterward so I can chat him up more than I got to during the games.

Congrats to Team Stradling; that was a nice comeback win.  Thanks to Chuck, Mark, and everybody else who had a hand in putting this tourney together.  I was impressed with the REAL Miracle-Leaguers!  Every chance I had, I would wander over to watch them playing their game.  I saw some HUGE smiles over there!

*btw... Brian confessed to me that he wasn't trying to dive into first-base to beat the throw.  It looked pretty good, but he came-up a little short of the bag...

I must be the worst girlfriend ever, because that makes it even more hilarious.

  5. It was a lot of fun. I have no idea who anyone was out there. Richard on Gotbeers team made a diving catch in left center. Adam made a diving play in the first game at third which was impressive.

My favorite person out there was a 78 year old gentleman who got out only once today. He is my favorite human right now.

I'm very proud of all of you for your donations, we really did a great thing. I'm looking forward to next year when we try and out do this year.

Well I'm not sure how much Brian can out do himself next year. Nose diving into first was priceless, if anyone has pictures of that I would love to see them.

  7. It isn't surprising that they lowered the invoice a bit. I've always wanted to get my boyfriend season tickets. We both personally haven't been to very many games this year at all. I think it might stand at 2 or maybe 3. One of those being on my birthday. A big reason for that is the fact that I work evenings to late night so that squeezes right into the game time of typical Angels game. And lately they have been on the road on a day when I have off. I would love to go more games because I always enjoy watching baseball games live. But man with the way they are playing definitely makes it harder to want to spend the money to go to a game. No matter how bad this team is doing, my bf says he will always be a die hard angel fan even when he grunts and says why do I even bother when they lose yet another game.

Season tickets might have to wait another year.

  8. The pain is worrisome. Not need to jeopardize the future for a few games that at this point probably won't make a difference. Plenty of players play through the pain and do okay. But an even larger percentage end up hurting themselves even more. Matt Kemp anyone?

No need to be gritty. Were not even in this race anymore.

  9. This topic drives me nuts! The award is for the Most Valuable Player! Not the all around best player! Has Trout been valuable to this team? Um, no! Is Trout the best player in baseball? Arguably, yes. But that is not the definition of the award. He had a better chance last year because he was the main factor in the Angels hanging on last year. This year, it's just not there. Since Davis is a juicer (allegedly), Cabrera is the probable MVP again.

The term valuable is defined as:

    a : having monetary value

    b : worth a good price
    2
a : having desirable or esteemed characteristics or qualities<valuable friendships>

    b : of great use or service <valuable advice>

It is all dependent on what you consider valuable as a player. For me, that is an all around player. For some that means hitting bombs, and a high BA. Just because all together the team sucks, doesn't diminish a player's value, if anything is heightens it especially if is able to still play at a very high level.

The meaning of that award is very subjective. There were plenty of players who were "more valuable" than others who managed to lose the MVP award to someone "less valuable".

  10. First off Colon, was caught and served his suspension. So it isn't like he "got away with it". Is 50 games enough? Hell no, but he did his time. The punishment should be more severe, but at the moment it is what it is.

I love how all the suspicion is on players that are solely on teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, Rangers, and A's.

I get this is an Angels forum, and of course no one will want to call out anybody on their own team, but come on, the sword cuts both ways.

David was caught when it wasn't against the CBA, so did A LOT of other players. Hence why they decided to test when the government stepped in. Has he been doing it since then, I don't know. Probably, or probably not. I love the roid rage argument, he gets pissy sometime ago about a call and everyone assumes it is roid rage. I see Harper do that shit almost every game, so he must be on the juice then.

If you want an honest list of those who might be using some sort of PED or HGH here is my list:

David Ortiz (There isn't proof, but I do have a small sense of doubt)

Miguel Cabrera (just my own opinion, anything is possible)

Jose Bautista (50+ plus home runs season came out of nowhere so to speak)

    Edwin Encarnacion

    Prince Fielder

    Matt Kemp

    Jose Reyes

Pujols (during the Cardinal years, before testing.

    Raul Ibanez

    Yoenis Cespedes

We can go on and on about who we think have used PED's and etc. But unfortunately since our testing is basically a joke, it gets harder and harder to weed out those who do. Olympic testing is no joke, and THEY still get cheaters in their mist.

At this point it is all about control.

  11. Considering I was sort of excited that he could potentially come to the Red Sox, I did appreciate his baseball prowess. However, when he went to New York and really flipped his Diva switch on, I was glad we didn't get him. We got a WS before him as well, so that was just icing on the cake.

His link and admission to using steroids was even more reason to lose all respect for him. You don't get a pass for fessing up to having cheated. I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't forgive me, if I said "Sorry sweetie, I cheated on you for a few weeks a few years ago but that's all over now okay?"

For the record, I do think Bartolo Colon should be gone. Twice is too many.

But it definitely says plenty that almost everyone else is willing to take a deal, than fight. I feel like A-Roid is simply fighting to prove a point that MLB can't take away his millions and etc. Besides, the biggest difference is not only the usage of PED's, but the fact that he was some how trying to purposely impede the investigation of BioGenesis. Which is the reason I'm sure that MLB is ready to bring down the hammer on him.

I love how some of the baseball writers are whining about the fact that the suspension might be excessive for A-Roid. Yet they complain when MLB doesn't do enough to bring down the hammer on PED's? WTF? Either you want the game to be clean or not. Nail him to the wall, and show that it won't be tolerated anymore and make the Drug Test Policy stronger than ever.

  12. The worst. The only reason any one that can consider it a success, is the fact that they won in 09'. But it is still horrible in my eyes. Stupid Phillies. They could have won without A-Fraud.

So heres his lines across from 06 when he was going to get his fat juicy contract. Solid numbers. Not bad.Definitely not horrible, but mediocre compared to steroid A-Fraud from Texas.

Some people on here are raving that his numbers in 09 and how the Yankees could of potentially not even fathomed winning a WS without him. That's bullshit. Since he signed that contract everything slowly started declining. The only difference between this and Pujols, was the decent production in the first two years versus okay production from Pujols.

    2007

    Red Sox: 96-66

    Yankees: 94-68

    WS:

    2008

    Rays: 97-65

    Red Sox:95-67

    Yankees:89-73

    2009

    Yankees: 103-59

    Red Sox: 95-67

I still think it is a horrible contract.

  13. For me, it is only a bit boring. With all the interviews and whatnot. I figured they would give the MVP to Rivera. No one else MADE that much of an impact besides those who got the Rbi's in. I figured they would do Sweet Caroline, for the whole Boston Bombing thing again.

I can definitely agree I am getting tired of hearing it played everywhere that isn't Fenway. At the BWW in Buena Park, Angel fans alike were singing along like crazy drunk people at a game. Am I the only person that thought it was stupid to only let Mo' go one inning? If you went through the WHOLE CHARADE of playing Enter Sandman, and whatnot to showcase him, why the hell don't you LET HIM GET THE SAVE? That just seemed ridiculous to me.
