My day off this week is Friday, so I'm gonna finally go out and do this. Cost is $2 per pitch up to 20 pitches. Can't wait to take some swings in a major league ballpark! I haven't hit a baseball in a couple of decades, but it's a pitching machine so I should be able to make decent contact and maybe even jack one out. Who else is gonna be there? We could meet up and take pics/video of each other while in the cage.

  2. Make a custom channel guide ASAP. Hit the menu button the remote, then go down to Settings & Help, then over to Favorite Channels. Then go down to select a list to customize and hit 'edit list'. If you want the channel to show up on your custom list, check the box next to the channel. Any channel you will never watch, uncheck it. Takes a few minutes to do when you first set it up, but after it's done you can bring up the guide and you can flip through the guide skipping hundreds of channels you don't have/won't ever watch. I have an older DVR box and can have 2 custom channel set ups..so you can have one set of channels and the wife can have a different set of channels. You can change back and forth between your custom lists on the 'Favorites' tab when you bring up the guide. Use the 'all channels' guide to page through to see all channels that are listed and to see if you actually can watch them before you add them to your custom list.

  3. I visited Fenway back on Sept 1, 2001. Yankees were in town. Got to the park about 30 minutes before the game. Place was already almost full. Took my buddy that lives in Weymouth but he isn't much of a baseball guy..he is all Patriots. Our seats were in right-center field not too far behind the bullpen. Pedro was pitching that day and it was his first start back after a stint on the DL. After warming up in the bullpen, he's walking on the field towards the dugout and the whole place stood up and give him an ovation. Was pretty cool to see actually. Didn't see any fights in the stands even though there were plenty of Yankees fans there. Was a good game. Looking back I wish I would have walked around the park to see the whole thing.

  4. I don't think I've ever been to a Portillos. I went to an Al's Beef recently. It was good but I'm not sure Italian Beef is my cup of tea. I prefer something The Hat or Philly's Best for warm sandwiches. But I would certainly give Portillos a try.

Portillo's beef sandwiches are so damn good. I visited Chicago a few years ago and my buddy that lived there told me to try them. I found out they have locations in Buena Park and Moreno Valley out here, and I visit the one in BP at least every other month. I got a guy that I used to work with hooked on them, too. I haven't had an Italian beef sandwich anywhere but Portillo's..I will have to try one somewhere else one of these days.

  5. Bought a cheapie Fender Squier Stratocaster when I was about 19 or 20 to try and jam with friends that played drums and guitar. I don't have the ear to play it. Learned to play some of the rhythm parts of a bunch of Black Sabbath songs going by tab books, but can't play much more than that. About 10 years ago I won a contest on KLOS and got to meet Ozzy and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath while they did the Rockline radio show up in L.A. So I went out and bought a used Gibson SG and brought it along. Tony signed it, but Ozzy didn't. Here's that guitar: pMTkF.jpg

After getting the SG, I then had 2 guitars I really can't play, so I gave the Strat to a musician friend of mine in Santa Cruz so he could mess around with it. He gave it to the guitarist in his band (Wooster) and he got it restored and uses it. Got to seem them play live in Costa Mesa a few years ago and saw my old guitar all fixed up. He said it played great and he even kept the hard case they way he got it with all the stickers that I put on.

  6. Took my parents to a Padres game at Petco in 2008 for Father's Day. We did the ballpark tour before the game. Padres had a game that night and we were finishing the tour during batting practice. As we were walking by the press box, I spotted Tony at his desk. I asked mom for a pen out of her purse. I took my ticket stub and asked Tony if he would kindly sign my stub. He looks down at me, fakes being mad and says "Is that an Angels cap you're wearing?" I could only mumble Yes and he smiles and says "Ok, I guess I'll still sign your ticket.."

Such a great guy and am glad I got to meet him that one time and have a chuckle with him.

  7. Kings played a very ugly game and still won. Rangers scored twice and both were pretty much gifts. An own goal by Voynov (dude always manages to do that for some reason) after a nice save by Quickie and a give away by Doughty with his D partner falling down (Muzzin I think it was) while turning around after the give away. But the Kings hung in there and somehow managed to win. Williams is a beauty. Looking forward to seeing a much cleaner game by the Kings on Saturday.

  8. Already listed, but posting here anyway to make it official.

Played slow pitch for 20 years. Played 4 nights a week at one point. Retired due to aching knees. Can pitch, catch or play 2B & 3B. Got a strong accurate arm and can turn double plays at second. Good line drive hitter but got bad wheels. Anybody got a couple of new knees for sale?
