For an owner who supposedly "loves baseball" - he doesn't always act like it.

I've said it before... the Angels have a culture problem and that starts with Arte.  At the end of the day, Arte may know how to make money - but he doesn't seem to know how to lead men and women.  He's not inspiring.  Great leaders make their teams feel safe.  He doesn't do that from what I can tell.  He seems to lack humility and I think many great leaders have that too.

I get the impression he loves the idea of owning a team.  He loves being at the park, etc. - but he doesn't have the passion for the game the way some owners might.  Maybe that's not fair.  I don't know the man.  That being said - over the years a picture of who he is has been painted for us and most of us wouldn't want to hang that painting on our wall.

At the end of the day - it's his team.  He gets to do what he wants to do and it's all out of our control  I'm an Angels fan, but being a fan isn't the most important thing in my life.  It's not even close.  Baseball is supposed to be fun.  Angels baseball hasn't been much fun of late.  Thankfully, I have other things to do and focus on.  I keep my eyes on the Angels because when it is fun - it's real fun.

My interest would probably be even less than it is right now if it wasn't for AW.  AW helps keep my interest in the game.  AW is a big part of my fandom now.  That's saying something.  That's a testimony to the work Chuck has done.

Players, coaches, GM's, broadcasters, etc. all come and go... but the AW faithful are here day in and day out.  That helps make baseball fun for me.

    Well said, T.G. Totally agree....

Chico and Alex Johnson were good friends, for a period of time.  The relationship went south and Chico pulled a gun on Johnson in the locker room after a loss to the Washington Senators on June 13, 1971.

What you have said seems vaguely familiar; however, from what I know about Alex Johnson I would be much more inclined to put the blame on him than a guy who was known to be a good teammate and a positive club house guy like Chico Ruiz.

I do recall that after he would hit a homerun, Alex Johnson HATED anyone shaking his hand. So one time after Johnson homered Ruiz waited until Alex had sat down and grabbed his hand and shook it when Alex wasn't looking. Johnson then proceeded to kick Ruiz for shaking his hand. Lovely dude.....

Nobody is going to trade for Trout.

Yeah, I agree. Mike likes - no loves - living in Newport Beach and  doesn't want to be traded away from his $9 million dollar home. It's really that simple. Yeah, I know that he wants to win. I mean he's got to say that and all but the real question is, 'How much'?

And that's the rub. Unfortunately, from what I've seen over the past several years he's not all that upset with the Angels losing ways ....at least no where near as upset as he would be if he was traded away and had to go somewhere else and leave his palatial estate in Newport.

Nope, my fellow Angels' sufferers Mr. Trout ain't going anywhere anytime soon. He'll just continue with the Angels, get injured and rehab on the beach while he smokes some brisket and chicken wings on the BBQ.

    Surfs up!!

Is it also time to consider shutting down Trout, and also shut down Ohtani from hitting once he reaches 48 HRs?

The sooner Ohtani gets TJS, the sooner he can hit in 2024.

Do you really think that he is going to resign with the Angels? I'm of the opposite opinion, id prefer him to continue playing and, hopefully, get to 50 homers and another MVP award. That's about all we have left for this year, unfortunately.

He can get his surgery in the off-season with his new team, whoever that is.

TROUT will REQUEST a TRADE... once Ohtani starts free Agency a day after the World Series.

Sorry just don't see it all. Mike likes - no loves - living in Newport Beach and  doesn't want to be traded away from his $9 million dollar home. It's really that simple. Yeah, I know that he wants to win. I mean he's got to say that and all but the real question is, 'How much'?

Here is what doesn't add up for me.

If he is a rotten apple, why did he jump out of the dugout with a cast and start swinging in the bench clearing brawl of 2022?

If he doesn't care about playing why did he come back off the IL at the end of 2022 so he could serve his 10 game suspension in 2022 and not have to miss the first 10 games of 2023?

Did he fool Moreno and Billy into giving him a big payday knowing that he was going to phone it in?

Was he secretly practicing fouling balls off of his shin?

It just doesn't all add up for me.

You bring up some good points. Mebbe there's some things we need to consider more closely.
