So I was right, you basically don't want to discuss it, you want to be told you are right.  Cool story bro.  We have had quite a few of your type around here, including you more than likely using a different name.  Sorry we don't take you seriously, we just have seen this movie before.

I talked about it for seven pages and then a couple of guys jumped on me like I'm an idiot and added nothing to my original post. A little too much for me in one day.  I do appreciate that you guys are passionate Angels fans (albeit elitist pricky).  I'll think I'll stick to twitter.  Thanks for the dialogue though.

    I didn’t jump into anything.

How about instead of these dumb circle jerk games you’re playing.  Respond to my actual attempt to discuss this with you.

What do you think would be different for the Angels if they had a perfect manager ?

You antagonized me too much from the start.  Pass.

    Bingo.

I saw this coming from the very first post.

So every person that either criticizes Scioscia or wants to discuss the lack thereof is coming from the exact same place based on your own anecdotal experience?  With all this judgment I would think I jumped into an internet forum with regulars or something.

If I remember right ,it was a 3 way trade and the Reds killed the trade because of the medicals on a Toronto minor leaguer. Not much you can do about that. The trade was maybe going to be Saunders to the Angels,Bruce to the Jays and prospects to the Reds. The Angels prospect was maybe going to be Jake Jewell.

You could be right though I remember it being Saunders for some reason.

Yes when Albert was the first baseman putting up WARs of 3 and 4 those two years.   Cron got over 400 at bats in 2015 and 2014 and 2015 combined he had an OBP of .296.  So yea, keep trying.

Which wasn't a shock given his performance at the tougher minor levels.  He still never got a true chance imo.

    @dprep80 impressive first thread.

    Already at 5 pages...

Got Jeff Fletcher to chime in.

Stamp of approval from Inside PItch.

Got me to call myself an idiot.

Got the attention of Boogie Man.

You're on your way to the AW HOF.

    LOL.

That i couldnt tell you. And i know what youre getting at, and perhaps you are right.

But to be fair, the majority of guys ive known over the years who hated sosh, didnt exactly go elsewhere and make him look wrong. It was quite the opposite. (But again, assuming napoli was one of the guys in that category, sosh was dead wrong)

Why did (most of) those guys hate him in the first place? Serious question.

I wonder what he thinks of Eppler.  You know since he is the one who signed Valbuena to platoon with Cron and he is the one that ultimately traded Cron.

You're right, especially because those moves also explain 2014/2015.  How silly of me to forget that.

Most ive talked to have had good things to say. I have heard theyre ready for a change though...mainly based on scioscias approach to at bats. And maybe this is truly his biggest fault, and where he needs to go.

That said, ive know a few guys from years past who hate him. And a few of the guys who liked him have even said if sosh doesnt like you, youre screwed. (Not sure if that is napoli, but i definitely assume it is).

I wonder what Cron thinks of him.

Well I asked you why you want him criticized now that he’s in the final year of his contract, after being given an injured, incomplete roster for the last three years, but I know the answer.  You want a person to blame because the reality of this teams situation is too much for you to grasp, so you’d prefer to find a villain.

For someone who clearly thinks he can read minds, your skills have eroded more than you are willing to admit.

We could have canned sosh 5 years ago and the results would have been the same. We spent the last 4 or so years with our rotation getting tommy john like a stripper gets tits. A lineup that featured trout and pujols, with other pieces (simmons only began hitting recently, and as luck would have it, calhoun forgot how at the same time).

I posted a stat a few weeks back they mentioned at the game...upton is the first LF weve had to hit 7 home runs since hamilton in 2014. Let that sink in.

Howie was the last 2B who could hit. Maldonado has a decent bat, before him you have to go back to iannetta. Pujols has fallen apart. Escobar was our best hitting 3B since when? Freese maybe?

Bottom line is simple. The pujols and hamilton contracts sunk this team. We talk about the possibility of retaining trout and signing a bat like machado...that would be very expensive, and handicap other moves. But at lesst they would hit. Now compare that to albert and hamilton. With ZERO farm.

It was and has been a perfect storm.

We maybe would have been better off blowing past the luxury tax, but two problems. 1, we would continue to have too many holes to fix with money (starting with the entire rotation...that alone would cost what? In free agency). The lineup would still need at least 2 bonafide stars to supplement an otherwise mediocre lineup.

2, our farm would still be in the dumps today.

If only we actually got to keep Saunders in 2016!
