ESPN’s Buster Olney reported on Sunday that the Boston Red Sox are seeking to package the former AL MVP with the contract of veteran pitcher David Price. The Red Sox are also said to be asking for a pair of frontline prospects.

Betts, 27, just agreed to a record one-year contract to remain in Boston but could still be on the move with the team looking to slash payroll. The 34-year-old Price, meanwhile, has three years and $96 million remaining on his deal.

There are still a few low risk pitchers on the FA market that are kind of interesting Alex Wood Ivan Nova Drew Smyly Taijuan Walker Danny Salazar Chad Bettis Jerad Eikoff Matt Moore Homer Bailey But if your looking for the difference maker it’s going to be via trade

Alot of Bundy types on the list but if i were to choose 1 out 3, it would be Wood/ Walker or Salazar on a low deal of course. all 3 are injury prone but have talent and put up decent seasons.

Sure, some people may be underestimating the impact of Rendon, but they aren't understating the need for pitching coming into this winter..  or last year.  The pitching situation has been an ongoing issue...  earlier someone used the term PSTD and honestly -- that fits.

Eppler's stance in previous years was that our rotation was good if healthy -- and while he was right, it was never healthy....  so.... even if he was right, the old line about the definition of insanity being repeating the same thing over and over starts to creep into people's heads.  Everyone understands the dude had his hands tied with the farm being what it was, the black holes all over the place, and the lack of available money but, that started to change last year and there is no denying his stepped on his dick .   So, while logically there were reasons why he went the route he did .... holy shit did things go sideways.   Anyway... IMO, people reacting emotionally to what they may view as more of the same is almost merited.

You said earlier than you could respond to some of this but that people would see it as you making excuses -- you get it.  The reality is that had last year FA moves not been the shit-fest they were then people might not be so on edge about what they have done this year.  It's fair for people to be skeptical even negative.  Personally, I'll be worried about them making some panic trade until they don't.  And I'm not opposed to making trades, I just don't want to see a Marsh moved for a Boyd or something along those lines.

    Agreed there 100%

    Boyd's 2nd half numbers

    14 starts 5.51 era 20 homers allowed in 78 innings , only a 3 to 1 so/ walk ratio

If they ask for Marsh, Angels should tell them  no way.
