I may be wrong but the sites I've looked at make it seem I am correct. The Angels can resign Ohtani right now to 50m a year and the top 26, the roster, wouldn't pass the 232m cap much less go over 200m.
He should be made the offer immediately IMO.

I don't see Rodon accepting what is essentially a 1/15M deal.
Rodon bet on himself before. I can't see him getting anything better than a 3/56. If he stays healthy and effective, 23 then 25 isn't out of the question. Angels are going to have to over pay, offer something better. I assumed a buyout in that option. 6m? that makes that a 1/21 first season.......why wouldn't he take that.

Rodon on a 3 yr 63m (15m, 23m, 25m) with team option after year one.
Then finish a Castillo deal.
Davis at SS would be fine.

My guess: Odorizzi on a 3yr deal, Hand on a 2 yr deal and possibly Adam Duvall on a 1 yr deal.

I hear that this may be Snell driven due to the way they managed him, including quick pulls this last post season.
This certainly deserves it's own thread.

This is without a doubt a big piece that the Angels need.
What would you trade for that piece?
I wouldn't pull Adel off the table here.

I know how Strat works, I'm in a league myself. No one is trying to draw REAL results based on it. I only meant that a simulation provides an interesting window on whether you have the right mix of resources on your team. It is by no means conclusive.
More importantly, it provides a welcome distraction during these End Days we're all living through. In our post-apocalyptic hellscape, at least there's Angels baseball to look forward to every afternoon at 2PM!
Then you know, its interesting and a fun distraction. And it's not a window. Its a 2nd grader level finger painting. Not really relevant to the right mix of resources.

I think there's entertainment value in a day-by-day Strat simulation, and some insights to be gained by seeing how projected performance plays out in a long 162 game season.
Life itself is variable. The "dice rolls and card pulls" play out every day in a real-world baseball season. We made PLENTY of fortunate rolls last year in that Tyler Skaggs tribute no-hitter! That was never "supposed" to happen.
Strat doesn't work that way. The mere existence of the possible tribute nono is why projected stats for Strat cards is even more random in these results.
In the Strat world, it is possible for a pitcher with a real 2.00 ERA over 200 innings 20 HRs can (and by experience sometimes does) end a replay season with 3.50 over 200 and 40+ HRs allowed.
Simulation is kewl, but I wouldn't read any future REAL results as likely based on it. Probably not even probable.

Now that Philly has taken that insanity pill called Harper, perhaps the Angels brass can pilfer some possible value out of that overcrowded outfield. I'd target Roman Quinn, but Aaron Altherr may also surprise if given a shot in the system. Not a Calhoun fan long term.
Ohtani and cap space.

Top 26 has them at about 172m. Ohtani is at 30m now. Add 20m to that now. Team goes to 192ish. Cap is 232m. Not sure they need to go to 260.
