I don't get the Conger trade
I get the Conger trade. I don't get the Butera trade. "Player to be named later" has a way better batting average.
-
Outfielders: Vernon Wells, Peter Bourjos, Torii Hunter and Bobby Abreu.
Did you have to list Wells first?! I just lost my breakfast.
-
I can see Calhoun being traded or not signed long term (Because they can't afford it) and then picking up a 30 Year old past his prime out fielder for 5 years $125 million.
Rucinski in the Rotation?

Except between innings
I will amend my previous statement. *During play.

As spring training is well underway and regular season games will begin soon, I want to remind fans in attendance to watch the game and not their phones!

Ball hit to Ferrell, fields it cleanly, STANDING OVATION
-
That was hit a long way.
-
Ferrell now in for Trout
-
Trout RBI double!
-
Rutledge not very impressive so far this spring.

Butera should be a solid addition in the backup and defensive specialist role. You know he'll be predominantly be catching 9th innings. Someone haas to contain the run game and when he guns down the tying run at 2B you'll be glad to have him.
I hope this scenario is more frequent than him leaving runners stranded at 2nd.
-
I would have liked to have seen Bandy or Perez get a shot at starting with Weaver on the mound. Butera at 31 with a career .183 BA doesn't seem like a long term solution.

Perhaps Scioscia's reasoning regarding Aybar then Cron then Iannetta is this:
Aybar is a decent enough hitter to be batting sixth.
Cron has good power but low OBP. It wouldn't be shocking for an inning to end (or go big) after a Cron at bat.
This means that Iannetta will likely lead off a decent amount of innings. If he does lead off and draws a walk, Rutledge can move him over to second, then Calhoun and more importantly Trout will have the chance to bring him in.
Just my thoughts.
Interesting take. My analysis of the line-up is this: IT'S F***ING SPRING TRAINING!!
-
I agree with all these changes. What the hell is Scioscia thinking?
After this line up fiasco, they should just fire Scioscia now, call it a season and start preparing for the 2016 season.

He is owed $18M in 2015 and 2016, $17.5M in 2017 and 2018, contract has a $17.5M vesting option with a $2M buyout at the end.

I would have loved being at the game where Michael Barrett punched A.J. Pierzynski.
What about this one?
-
He earned the house and car.
I agree. And I hope he can earn another car with the Angels. I would be very happy if he gets 4 World Series Bonuses with the Angels to spend on a new McLaren. (Although after taxes he would need 8 World Series bonuses to buy one)
-
That guy looks kinda successful and happy.
I would like to see him successful and happy on the mound. Not just in front of his mansion and ultra rare sports car.

1. An interview with CJ Wilson. I expected to not like him but after the interview I'm completely in his corner. Dude was affable and gave good answers to all the questions and was 180 degrees out from the douchebag I sorta expected. I was already hoping for him to bounce back after the end of last season but now I'm rooting for him even more.
Was this the douche bag you sorta expected?
