Aybar and Howie....mediocrity awarded!
Other than 1 GG season, neither of them had done anything to merit extensions.
Warm bodies filling spots, just like Callapso.
Hated it it then, and even with Howie's 2013 season...still do.
Those contracts were red flagged writings on the wall about the future.
Lock up some warm bodies and bring in some big names.
I really don't understand what you're expecting the Angels to do here? You can't have elite players at every position so whilst we may not have pedroia or cano or tulo, the two guys we have are in that next level below elite at their position. Sometimes I don't think some of you guys will be happy until the whole team are all star, elite players.

I have yet to see someone against Dipoto tell me who he should have signed/traded for instead. Even with hindsight, no one has a good answer. If these players were living up to expectations, we would be fine. But they are not and we want to blame him?
Exactly! The free agent starting pitching available was weak last off season. People called for JD to sign a Saunders or Haren or McCarthy who have produced almost identical stats to Blanton and Hanson. Sadly it seems he had no choice but to take a chance and hope his picks worked out. Unfortunately for jerry he was forced into such moves due to a lack of pitching already in the system which we cannot really blame him for.

Along with regression, Trumbo also played through a rib injury post home run derby last year which severely affected his swing. Hitting homers in bp doesn't ruin his swing, why would a televised batting practice do it?

Interesting article on Trout's defense so far this season
You know, perhaps we should just DH him on bourjos' return and play trumbo in left? (Sarcasm)

The most annoying thing about this angel team is that there's the talent there to take us on a crazy run. If trout, trumbo, josh and Albert get hot together we could be scary, especially with howie and bourjos chipping in. All very unrealistic but it's the fact it could happen which keeps us hanging on. If this was just a poor team I'd be less frustrated than I am with this year

Do other orgs have this many wild pitchers?
Of course they do. You just don't follow when a prospect in the brewers org flames out due to lack of control or command. Likewise very few outside of the angels fan base will know an RJ Alvarez or Daniel Tillman.

Throughout a season you wil always lose games like this where the bats go quiet. The angels problem is that they can't afford to lose any games at all.

When your manager thinks that the logical place to put your best hitter is in the 2 hole, I don't think it really matters where anyone else hits.
The best place to hit your best hitter is the 2 hole

Interestingly there's been no independent witness statements confirming the man was beheaded. A woman this morning claimed to have checked his pulse, why would you check a mans pulse if he had no head?

The problem is as the Dave Cameron article shows is that this isn't just a 20 game slump. Over the last 365 days and 650 plate appearances he's been terrible. That's the most concerning thing. Anyone want to give $25 million to Jason kubel?

Please just go Trout-Hamilton-Pujols-Trumbo

I became a fan in 2003 but I had no idea about the 2002 World Series win at that point. I wasn't jumping on the bandwagon.
I was 9 years old on a family holiday in CA from the UK. We decided to go to a game between the angels and tigers in the summer of 2003. Been hooked ever since. Average first pitch time for angels home games is 3 am for me so the angels give me many sleepless nights
WAR doesn't like Trout's defense
